It is very clear to me that any other "former" band members are out. Current members will stay (Dizzy, Fortus, Frank, Pitman. I dont know why people still hope to see Adler or Izzy, its not going to happen!  GNR never broke up...we knew from several sources that Tommy, Ashba and Ron left the band last year...everyone else stayed.

It seems the third guitar spot is the only big bomb that's left to explode. This band NEEDS three guitar players to properly play ALL the catalogue.
It's a one chance in a million, considering NIN's activity this year, but i would sell my soul to Satan for Robin being there...

Hopefully Lollapalooza is next!!!

Ugh, hopefully not.  I was hoping my festival days were behind me (yes, I'm old) and then the first 2 shows end up being festival shows.

I went to Lolla a few years back when my wife scored free passes.  It was actually pretty fun. Hell, the food was better than anything the taste of Chicago has to offer, and that's saying A LOT. Word is GNR are favorites to headline. If so, there's no way I'm not there.

Who wrote this? How come Slash and Duff can be former members and current members at the same time?

It clearly says two former members will be back in the band for the performances.

/jarmo

Correct. However, it's hard to imagine this will be their only show, especially after reuniting/regrouping (call it whatever you want) with Slash. The bomb has been dropped. PR-vise, it would be suicidal to just play Coachella with Slash and Duff and than revert to one of the (many) former nuGNR members. In my opinion, these will either be a farerwell performances (which I don't think is the case) or just a begining of a new tour, which would include Slash and Duff.

Just for the performances? Only for those 2 dates? Or they are back in the band as former/current members?
Sorry but I got lost with your post.

You're all missing the most obvious answer:  the new lineup is Slash (guitar), Duff (bass) and Axl (drums).  Their set will consist of a free-form jazz odyssey...

OK, so now is 100% officially confirmed! It was a stretch thinking that the AFD lineup would get together and tour, but I'm still hopeful that they might play at least one special concert or having the AFD lineup doing a couple of songs here and there.

No words to express having one of my favourite bands back from the dead. I lost the count of the number of times I watched the Tokyo VHS and dreamed about seeing those guys live!  drool

It's a press release and it tells you exactly what is happening.  When you buy your ticket, you will get Axl, Slash and Duff. That is the fixed line-up.

My take is that they don?t quite have this all figured out just yet. They had to announce Coachella because it?s a festival with many other bands (very little of interest to hard rock/Guns fans), it was leaking out everywhere, and tickets are going on sale. But I would hope for and expect a press conference and more details, dates, and band members to be released as they get closer and sort through everything. My sources have told me current GnR drummer Frank Ferrer will be retained and play the bulk of the show, with perhaps a guest appearance from Steven Adler if a deal can be worked out. I would suspect the same with Richard Fortus staying, and maybe Izzy popping up. I would also expect Dizzy and Chris Pittman to stay. I have heard the Dave Kushner rumor but don?t know anything about that and don?t see the connection, but anything is possible. Axl always liked 3 guitars in the later era Guns so who knows? So what this really looks like now is the remaining current Guns lineup (except Stinson, can?t have two bass players I guess), with Duff and Slash being plugged in, and maybe guest spots from Izzy and Steven. Is this enough to make long time fans dying for a reunion content? For most yes. For some no. But it will do huge business regardless of the percentage that was holding out hope for an Appetite reunion 100%. That was never going to happen anyway since Guns only really made one album with that band. I have also been told consistently by many that Matt Sorum is not involved. Read into that what you will. Have not heard Gilby?s name attached either at this point.

What Eddie Trunk said makes sense. And explains why Axl had to pull the plug on the Kimmel interview. And that's why we just got some tweets and this press release so far.

Agreed and I think the Kimmel appearance fell through because all of the questions don't have answers yet.

Bullshit.  There was Appetite for Destruction and GNR Lies.  And yes, they did two albums that Steven rehearsed and in some cases demoed.  It's ridiculous to assume that the original five couldn't tour together strictly because of the songs.  The majority of the public (outside of the internet) still remembers and prefers the classic lineup (which is why they're considered the classic lineup) and they don't really care about that.

Having said that, if I could get my hands on a ticket that included Steven and Izzy in even a partial capacity, it would be worth it.

hihi  That's more credit than I'd give him if he lived 100 lifetimes.   Tongue

I think he's correct when he guesses that Coachella is likely the only thing that's been finalized so far.  I'd love to think that rumored US stadium tour announcement was right around the corner, but who knows, really?

It's hard to separate facts from all the garbage rumors flying our way lately.  Here's hoping!
