The early performances from the 80s, the UYI tour version or a variant of the 2007-present maybe?

The new line-up's version has evolved with the whole band having more and more involvement through the years. It all started with only Axl and Ron on stage, and now the band is fully involved by the end of the song.

Personally I like how they do the song now, but the UYI tour version is naturally more like the record and that's my favorite.

I'm not that familiar with bootlegs, any particular Don't Cry performance you can recommend?

If you?re looking for something somewhat unusual. Try The Roxy 86, The Marquee Club 87 or the Felt Forum (N.Y.) 88. I really like The Roxy 86.

There is also the demo version. But that one obviously is not live

Sorry to jump in uninvited,I'd recommend the Paris 92 version, the Biloxi 92 also the L.A. forum 91 with Shannon Hoon guesting and the 2009 osaka version in that mythical 3,5 hour long concert.

I gotta say the 91-93 version with the Backing up vocals

Skin and bones tour version worked great as a encore but Gilby does little justice to Tracey and Roberta  Wink

I liked Rons solo version too from 2006.

The newest one where it starts with Bumble and Axl and ends up with the full band is great too, but i prefer the 90s version

I know it's par for the course with some of you... that you prefer everything post Izzy and Slash as far as guitar work goes...even on the songs they recorded... you'd rather hear the newer players....

Call me a traditionalist... the performances from the first legs of the Illusion tour with them would be my preference. Hard to find great quality of some those. I always like the Chicago 92 performance with Shannon Hoon too.

It's also my favorite GNR video. ( I know ...not the topic)
