I couldn't find a topic that covers this subject, but if I'm mistaken please merge this with that topic....

So I was wondering what Axl's favorite current artists are.... I know he was/is into NIN, but that's already 'old news' so to speak.... What does he listen to? Which artists does he admire? (Apart from the rock dinosaurs we already know of)

I know Pink's a big fan of Axl's, and she even has a raw voice....but I doubt he likes her music. Same goes for Lana Del Rey, she even has a song called 'Axl Rose Husband' and on her new album there's a song called 'Guns And Roses'. But I doubt Axls a big fan of that....

So what does the man listen to? What are his favorite artists of the moment...? Anyone has any insight on that?

He mentioned The Black Keys' "El Camino" as his favorite album of 2012 in an interview last year (2013).

I was just thinking about this question the other day...just to see Axl's reaction to a radio blaring out Katy Perry music would be hilarious.   hihi

I think he likes oldschool stuff. 70'ish style amongst others. He mentioned Jehtro Tull in some interview.

Imo, after reading all the interviews over the years he is just a big music fan.Anything sounding good.
He mentioned all these different artists and sounds.Fiona Apple,Korn, the last metallica record,Sweet,Queen,Elton john of course....
In the fan chats in 2008 he also said he likes some metal but not underground.
So we got all his influences in Chinese Democracy  ok

I think he probably has a varied taste in music, like most people really. He mentioned Fiona Apple a few times over the years and that's not someone you might expect.

Along those same lines, were any of the opening acts this year especially good?  I've been turned on to a lot of good music by some of my favorite bands' choice in openers.

Goldsboro is always a great opening band for Guns. Probably my personal favorite outside of Handsome Dick when he opened at Roseland. Otherwise, Delta Rose who opened a couple of shows during No Trickery are pretty good too, and fun to party with!

I asked Axl about that when I met him in Vegas on the Afterparty and he said Freddy Mercury , Jeff Lynn from ELO , Elton John and I was shocked when he said Chuck Berry.
