Tough to beat Metallica or Soundgarden. SG was still in their prime, and Metallica weren't too far removed from theirs.
I thought Bullet For My Valentine were horrible live, but didn't know their songs before hand either, so I'll give em a pass.
Papa Roach shouldn't be allowed in the same venue as GNR, or any venue for that matter.
Bach is always entertaining.

QUOTSA can be great live sometimes, and boring others. Depends if Lanegan is touring with em or not.
I like Homme, but think he's at his best when he sticks to playing guitar and letting someone else handle the vocals.

Thats right I forgot about CKY. They seemed to like being there but I didn't care for them either.
I would have to say one of the best ones was that street performer Axl had come the one night at Hammerstein. lol He was actually really fun to watch.

haha I remember that guy!!

oh and for the record, Metallica was not the opener for GN'R, they played a 3 hour set!! They were co-headliners, they just went on first.  So to be fair I wouldn't count them in this.

Bullet for My Valentine were HIDEOUS- That sort of Bass sludge that sounded like a kick to the kidneys. Just Because Bullets come from Guns and Roses are given for Valentines, it doesn't mean that these troglodytes have ANYTHING in common with the class of G'N'R.

I agree, and then they had the nerve to say how Metallica treated them better than GN'R did on tour. The dudes where lucky Axl threw them a bone and let them open for GN'R. I think they just got tired of everyone being so pumped for GN'R and not giving a shit for them.  hihi

I wasn't there, but I can remember the live updates from the first Hammerstein show in 2006 (12th). And apparently, Bullet virtually got raped by the GN'R fans, who were throwing bottles and shouting to them to get off. I don't blame them either, Guns N' Roses are in a different universe compared to Bullet.  yes
