Buckethead.  He really really impressed me on this album.  Bucket's work and the drumming made this a monumental album.  That's not taking into account the writing of the songs, just the performance Smiley

Any Buckethead album will impress anyone.

Buckethead: although I don't consider this to be his best work... I actually prefer some of his solo albums (like Giant Robot) to Chinese Democracy.
I hope his stuff will still be used on the two upcoming albums.

Electric Tears is Buckethead's best solo album, hands down.

Tough call

For the album Id go with Axl for the gold, bucket and robin for the silver, and pitman for the bronze

The bands MVP is Tommy and Pitman. Tommy has held down the fort all of these years and has been loyal to the band even though he almost drifted.

How can Ron be an MVP over anyone accept Frank? He didnt write one note for the album!

I dunno dude, that's a tough call, esp. with Colma.

But without a doubt, Bucket gets my MVP award.  He just fucking rips it in so many tracks (mainly Better and TWAT).

I can't believe I'm saying this, Buckethead for his "Sorry" solo.

Great call! Not my absolute favourite, but the four part beast that is Lurker at the Threshold alone propels it pretty high. I'd currently rate it around my third or fourth favourite album of his.

As a massive fan of the Bucket, he has to get my vote. I couldn't believe my luck when I heard that so much of his stuff had been left on the album. I'd be almost as excited to see Bucket and Axl on stage together again as I would be to see Gilmour and Waters !!

... Well. That may be hyperbolic. But you get my point.

Completely agree.  I'd love it so much if he was a fucking special guest or something on the next tour, even if he just came out for Riad.

Buckethead, I don't like the Bucket on his head, but his guitar work speaks for itself. He gave CD it's edge.

Without Axl this album wouldn't exist.

But since this is about the people other than Axl....

I can't say.

The way I see it, is that it's a team effort and without even one team member, it wouldn't be the same album.

picking a non-axl mvp from chinese democracy is like picking the best brick in a building.  sure, they all contribute to the big picture, but really it's about the architect's vision, passion and genius.  any brick can work perfectly fine as long as the architect knows how to be brilliant and amazing.

Sure its a team effort, but just like team sports, an MVP is named eventhough the entire team is involved. I gotta say Chris and the Bucket for co-mvp, with honor mention to robin (if not tri-mvp!)

it's funny/ironic how you disagree with the "team effort" MVP concept then proceed to pick a Tri-MVP.  hihi
If Axl wasn't a gimme, would you have picked a quadruple-MVP?  rofl
