When did What Italian fan site boycott?

I was just reading a thing about Prince stopping fan sites from showing any photos of him and in the article it said it reminded them of the time the Italian fan site boycotted GN'R?

What was that about?

From what I remember, some Italian fan site closed down in protest at the lack of communication regarding the aborted tour, failure to release a new album and a lot of other things. I dont know if was even around the time Buckethead got fed up and hit the road, or prior to that.

I'm sure I got some cool downloads from that site, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back  when I first discovered the internet

it was in 2007 after that tour finished. they were sick of the fact that the album had yet to be released so they made an open letter treatening a closure within 30 days unless a new album update was released. sadly nothing came and the site shut down. i admire their principles and all but I would say they look pretty stupid with less than 20 days to go
