I was at last nights concert and thought it very funy when Baz was geeing up the crowd by saying how hard brisbane rocks.  It reminded me of when they had The Who on the Simpsons and they came on and said, Nobody rocks like Springfield, but the guy who said it had to look on the back of his guitar for the name of the town he was in. Struck me funny that bands do that, of course it's all in fun and does get the crowd going.

I saw KISS at Jones Beach and during Black Diamond Peter Criss said "I love you Manhatten Beach". Also years ago on MTV , I think it was Vince Neil, who said they have the name of the city taped to the fron of the stage just for that reason.

Saw the thread title and thought for a mo that you were talking about the 'white lady of soul', the late, great Dusty.? ?Cheesy

On topic: I think that Baz would be the first to acknowledge that he's not known for the subtleties of his performance but there's?no doubt that he's great at working an audience.

"Goodnight, Springton, there will be no encores." hihi

Axl does the opposite, for example, asking the corwd in Las Cruces how many of them would admit to being from there. Grin

Both have been on the show, The Who were there when Springfield got divided... I think it was because the telephone numbers changed but that might have been a different split. I can't remember which had to look to see what the town was.

At The Rolling Stones Fantasy Camp they tell them to always say the town you're in is the best one and, I think, Homer says "So when you said it last summer you didn't mean it?" and one of the guys say "No, you're the only time we really mean it" or something along those lines...

Yeah, the spilt was due to the telephone numbers...surreal episode.

Funnier that that was when I saw DragonForce at the Liquid Room in Edinburgh (which holds about 600 people) and the singer said something along the lines of "[X number of thousands, however many had been at Wacken, where they had played recently] don't make half as much noise as 600 crazy Scottish metal nuts" or something.  That was funny.

Didn't Axl screw up during one of the Asian shows in 2002 by naming the wrong city?

my friends and i always joke about how every time we've seen ozzy/black sabbath in different cities he always says "we love you, you're #1", at least he's smart enough to not bother with mentioning what city he's in. what's even worse is when he leaves the stage before the encore there is, what is obviously a recording of his voice coming over the speakers to get the crowed pumped saying stuff like "i can't hear you" "louder, louder". there is a very audible tape hiss in the background each time it come's through the speakers Roll Eyes
