RAMONES & GUNS N ROSES

What the members of Ramones think about GNR (old band)?
I always watched the "Believe in Miracles" video of Ramones and tho that all that mentions in that video were like
"THIS is cool, we like all of them, this is a message from us to you about miracles"
and that kind of thing...
but watching again, that was in 1989, the year of POISON, SKID ROW, GNR and lots of "hard/glam bands"... and people that were into punk music (and their attitudes) probably hated that "pop" thing that was hapenning that time.
I think I never heard or read anything about Joey or the members of RAMONES talking about Axl and GNR, and I don?t know what the fans and the midia said that time about it, GNR were rock n roll, but song like SWEET CHILD O?MINE, PATIENCE and then UYI I&II were showing the band as a "hard rock band", thing that even today you see punks saying that is shity music

I know plenty of 'punk rock' types who love Appetite. I know even more punk types who think Motley Crue's 'Too Fast For Love' is an awesome punk rock album (I would be inclined to agree). Punk is an attitude more than the music. Television was considered punk just as much as the Sex Pistols. Blondie was considered punk at one time too.
As for the Ramones...apples and oranges I guess. They probably didn't really pay attention to GnR or any of those bands, nor did they probably much care. The Ramones was their own little world, really. I do find it kind of funny that most punk types hated all of those sunset strip type rock bands while most of those sunset strip types would probably name-check the pistols and the ramones as influences.

and Izzy and Axl both loved the Ramones if I'm correct

The live versions of I believe in miracles by Pearl Jam are great, GN'R could never do that imo. I don't see a strong connection between GN'R and the ramones. But a very strong connection between Pearl Jam and the Ramones

Yes...is correct. I read that too.
I think that Ramones as a lot of influence on Duff Mc Kagan. That's the only member for me that have "Ramones influence"

I was under the impression that Duff and Izzy were both big Ramones fans. Izzys Think About You off AFD has fairly strong Ramones influences, imho. In fact a lot of Izzy's stuff is slightly reminiscent of the ramones, with just simple, loud rhythyms and not too many lyrics.

Izzy's stuff to me was way more Johnny Thunders and the Stones than the Ramones. Nobody really sounds like the Ramones except the Ramones. Even bands that are influenced by the Ramones. Like I said, the Ramones were a unique thing unto themselves.

*********
Izzy and Duff totally love the Ramones. They have said that many times in interviews. They have performed Ramones songs together. Izzy said countless times that he learned guitar playing Ramones and Motorhead songs.
Axl, Slash and Steven probably also loved the Ramones too (they have been spotted wearing Ramones T-shirts, etc).
Also the Ramones (or at least Joey) liked Guns n' Roses (the real band). On the "I Believe in Miracles" video they pay homage to the bands/people/stuff that they like.
I read a Ramones book in which Joey says that he met Axl in New York and he also says that they were planning to record a song together. Joey said that he was going to do the low voice and Axl would do the high voice on the song. Unfortunatelly that never happened.

PS: Some of you guys don't know what you are talking about...

Izzy and Duff have played Ramones tracks and they sounded great. Yes, GNR could never play like PJ. Thanks God for that!

Everybody noticed GNR in 1987-88-89. Everybody loved GNR in 1987-88-89. If you were not there, you can't not even imagine how many people were into GNR back then. Punks, Metalheads, Rockers, Girls, even mothers were into GNR!Fact is not only the Ramones noticed GNR but they probably also liked GNR just like everybody else.
Joey liked GNR, and that much I know for a fact.
