I'm a llama!

« on: February 08, 2007, 08:46:39 PM »

HI. First time poster, long time reader. I would just like to enter some of the conversations on this board so I thought I would say hello first and offer a little background of my GNR experiences and opinions. I have been a die hard fan since 1990, my junior year in high school. I was a little late for the initial surge of AFD, but I was in a family situation that would not allow such music in the house. Needless to say as soon as I was "infected" there was no looking back. I've seen GNR live 6 times. These are the shows.
1. Chicago 1992 Rosemont.  The famous "Coma" show. Awesome show but, I must admit I was completly blown and don't remember most of it.
2. Dayton, Ohio. Wright State University basketball Court. Say What? Yes, that was the night Axl cut his hand and him and Slash were not very nice to each other.  Sound garden opened and were great. That was the first time I experienced the GNR Wait. They came on at like 1245. Great show, But no booze, college arena.
3. Metrodome, Minneappolis. On the Metallica, Faith No More Tour. Originally postponed because of Hetfield's injury. My show was the first to have Hetfield play guitar since his injury. Faith No More are great but, they were out of there element. Metallica rocked and, Axl and the boys were great!

4. Iowa City Iowa.  Thats where I live. They had the "stripped down tour" here. It was great. Most fun I've ever had. My band in my town.
5. M
oline Illinios 2002. The "new" gnr. I bought tickets on StubHub for $200 apiece for 2nd row center. Loved it.
6. Ames Iowa 2006. Very late show but, worth the wait. My wife's first GNR show ended at 250 am. She still loved it. She told me"Now I know what you're talking about".
So, now my thoughts will switch to the present. Axl has already released a new album. The leaks and thematerial floating around the internet is almost a record within itself. I resently bought a product online at a site that starts with e of all the leaked tracks.Together it sounds awesome. Axl knows what he is doing and will have one hell of an album when and if he releases it. Happy 45th WAR.

That's awesome!  I also went to the Moline '02 and the '06 Ames shows.  I live in Mt. Vernon, work in cedar rapids.  The Ames show was the first for my wife as well.  She too is now a huge GN'R fan  ok

I was also at the Minneapolis Faith No More/Metallica/GNR show.  that sure was a long time ago!  But, if I remember correctly, hetfield still wasn't playing guitar, was he? I can't remember for sure, but for some reason I remember that he wasn't playing.  i could be confusing it with the "year and a half in the life of" videos, which I watched about 3459837459834758734 times back in the day.
