I heard 'Sorry' is 'This I love' but re-worked. I can't remember which thread I was reading this on. Has anyone else heard anything similar to this. If it is bs, then I apologize.    Cool

Definetly havent heard that. The only thing we have heard about Sorry is what Sebastian said about it, that it was almost like doom metal.

Quote
Before anyone gets excited this film was released in 1998 and the song didn't feature on it! And whilst I appreciate it is old it's never been publicly known until recently. But here are the two articles on it:

http://www.sp1at.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=425

Guns n Roses were offered a soundtrack spot

Sp1at.com can exclusively reveal that the soundtrack for the Robin Williams film "What Dreams May Come" was meant to feature the as yet unheard Guns n Roses song "This I Love".

Last week, in a Sp1at interview Dave Dominguez revealed that during his time working with the band the song was intended for a "Robin Williams film" but he did not give any further details. Sp1at's intrepid reporters followed this up and found out that this was the case. Sp1at contacted the office of Dawn Soler, the musical supervisor for the film, and she confirmed that this indeed was "true".

Unfortunately for Guns fans the film got its cinematic release in 1998 and did not feature music from the band. The song "This I Love" which Axl Rose described in 1994 as the "hardest" song he's written has yet to see the light of day. Although Howard Karp, who worked on the song in 2000, has told Sp1at in the past that it is a "simple piano track".

In the 7 years that have passed since the release of "What Dreams May Come" Guns n Roses have released only one new studio track, "Oh My God", which featured on the soundtrack of the film "End of Days".

http://www.sp1at.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=429

Dawn Soler talks about the GnR song "This I Love"

Dawn Soler, the musical supervisor for the film "What Dreams May Come" has been speaking exclusively to Sp1at about working with Guns n Roses's Axl Rose.

When asked whether she could recollect any of the song that she probably hasn't heard for around 7 years she unfortunately said "Oh boy that was a long time ago", she was also unsure how the oppourtunity to work with Axl came along in the first place.

However, she assure me that Axl "was really into the film" and rather interestingly suggested that he "wrote the song for it". This contradicts an interview from 1994 where Axl said he had already written the song, which many fans speculated was about Dylan, the son of Axl's one time partner, Stephanie Seymour.

However the film did not make the final cut despite Dawn's fondness of the Guns n Roses track, the reason she gave Sp1at was that "the director was a pill and didn't get how cool it would be".

If any Guns n Roses fans feel the need to send hate-mail to that director then I believe his name is Vincent Ward and he lives in New Zealand.*

The new Guns n Roses album "Chinese Democracy" is currently rumoured for release between April and July depending on which reports you choose to believe. Whether the song "This I Love" will ever be released is unsure and for that we have Mr. Ward to blame.

*Sp1at feels the need to point out that it doesn't condone people sending hate-mail to idiot directors*

It's hardly ground breaking but its only surfaced recently and some people may find it interesting!

I really hope this album is an overwhelming success because if it is I'm sure there is enough good material left to use with about 6-8 new tunes and make another album right away...

It would suck if we never get to hear this song after hearing so much about it over the years.

Agreed.  For what little its worth, I can't imagine CD *not* being a success.  Even if "This I Love" isn't the best fit with the other tracks on Democracy, I imagine it will be released.  The question, as always, is when...

Maybe this track will show up on the 'OLD SCHOOL 2' soundtrack this summer.  yes Though, something tells me the song might not fit well in the movie. I mean, depending on how deep the song is. Or maybe better yet Axl will have a cameo in the movie and he will comment on Chinese Democracy. Yeah, again I doubt it but that may be cool.   ok

How does any of the info provided so far conclusively prove it is not The Blues? I'm not saying This I Love is The Blues, but it's a theory and there's no evidence out there that definately disproves it. The Sp1at articles may be from 05 but they all refer to Axls comments back in 94 or relate to the song being used on the soundtrack of What Dreams May Come in 98 there's no interview from anyone who mentions hearing the song after 2000.

There was also a rumor that the piano part of This I Love was used as the November Rain intro during the 2002 tour.  This was never anything but speculation but it would be cool if it was true, or at least if that intro was part of one of the new songs, it sounded quite epic

This I love is clearly not the blues, The Blues lyrics are deep, but definitely not "the deepest Axl's ever wrote".. check out Coma/Estranged/November Rain, i'd say those are all deeper than "The Blues".. I'd expect This I love to be more deep lyric wise than the blues...

I'd bet my left nut that the Blues isn't "This I love." peace

First off, there's really no way to conclusively prove anything regarding songs that haven't been heard yet. I remember people saying TWAT was about child abuse before it leaked - now we know that's certainly not the case.

But, Howard Karp worked on a song called This I Love in 2000. In January 2000, Axl mentioned The Blues as one of the new songs in the Rolling Stone interview. Karp worked on This I Love with Roy Thomas Baker, who was first mentioned to work with GNR in late April. Granted, RTB might've been part of the fold from, say, March. But they'd hardly change a song title to 'The Blues' in January, then switch it back to 'This I Love' later in the year, and do yet another turnaround before 2001.

Therefore, I have a very strong reason to believe This I Love and The Blues are two different songs.

I'm sure I'm going out on a limb here with this comments, specially because it is somewhat related and off-topic at the same time. Is Chinese Democracy the official name of the next CD/Album or was it a rumor from many a long years back that has taken a life of it's own?
