Henry Trappler of Celebrities.com caught up with VELVET REVOLVER/ex-GUNS N' ROSES drummer Matt Sorum, who talked about his current and upcoming activities. Sorum said the new VELVET REVOLVER album should be completed by the end of February. The band will then go on a South American tour with AEROSMITH in April, to be followed by a U.S. theater tour in May and European dates in June. The drummer was then asked about his previous band, GUNS N' ROSES. Sorum revealed that he hasn't seen the new GN'R lineup perform live and he stated that it would be "strange" seeing Axl Rose and a bunch of new guys playing under the GUNS N' ROSES banner. He also spoke of the time he ran into Axl Rose in New York last year. Watch video footage from Lulop.com.

VELVET REVOLVER is recording its second album, tentatively titled "Libertad", with producer Brendan O'Brien, who's worked with AUDIOSLAVE, PEARL JAM and singer Scott Weiland's former group, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS. An initial stint with producer Rick Rubin did not work out.

VELVET REVOLVER hopes to release "Libertad" in late April or early May. Weiland is also working on his second solo album, which he said will surface sometime in 2008 on his own label, Softdrive Records.

Was it strange for him to play songs recorded by Steven Adler ? It wasn't strange for him to be under the GN'R banner at the time.

I really hate that guy.

I love VR AND The Cult and I don't care for Mr. Sorum. I love how after his comments about the new Guns how he was shot down.

"Yeah but have you ever seen the original band?" (Cocky grin)
"Yeah, the REAL original band."
Matt Sorum = STALLOWN3D

P.S. He's still a fantastic drummer.

Sorum was on more albums than Adler. How many GNR albums has the CD era lineup been on?

Besides, during Sorum's time in GNR, the tour was UYI heavy. He was playing more songs of his than he was Adler's. This current lineup plays more AFD than the UYI lineup ever thought of doing. There was no reason to milk AFD on tour, because like Axl said, playing most of AFD every night would be like jerking off, and he'd rather play new material. I wonder when that line of thinking changed.

I really hope this upcoming VR tour comes to the central Cali area. If not, I hope they at least come to Frisco.

I am really psyched for this upcoming album. I pray to God it blows CB out of the water. smoking

^Let's put it this way then (like it really matters to me): Sorum was on more tracks than Adler.

Edit. And why wouldn't it be strange to him to see the new line-up live..? As some of you guys MIGHT know; Matt played a couple of shows with Guns n' Roses.. oh and did he do some studio-stuff too? rofl

Why is everytime that somebody interviews one of the former Gunners and they always ask them Gun n' Roses questions. That little segment was more about Guns that VR.

The one guy drilling Matt with Guns question was there just to antagonize Matt, nothing more.

Matt said all of this on Camp freddy radio last week. They'll tour for 5 weeks then take a 2 week break, right up until Oct. They have the tour Itinerary planned out, but no single or tenitive release date has been set.

My bad, it was hard to hear since you couldn't really tell what was going on.  I thought maybe they were saying since they enjoyed their recent GNR experience, they thought it was the best.  It still was not a good interview.

Don't think it was really meant like an interview, I thought it was more like some paparazzi bumped into him and they we're just talking a bit while getting him on tape....

I think the guy who said "this is one of the best right here" was being honest and just trying to do some damage control. The other guy was just being a dick, and it was very appearent even to his counterpart.

What I wanna know is who was the Brunette with Matt, she's a pretty girl.

I dunno.  I don't see any of the negativity (either from Matt or from the questioners) that others do.  Matt was in GNR, so it's relevant to ask him about GNR.  But he wasn't shitty about it.  Seemed like friendly banter to me.
