Anyone here a fan? I absolutely love this band. Was not a fan at first but they have really grown on me over time. "The Velvet Underground and Nico" and "The Velvet Underground are two of my favorite album of all-time, but everything they did is great.

Yeah I love them.  Got the box set two years ago and absolutely fell for them.  You should also get Nico's first solo album "Chelsea Girls".  Check out some of Reed's early work and Cale's solo work with Brian Eno.

I think theyre OK. I can appreciate why the VU and Nico is revered now days because of what it did artistically. I think their other albums and Lou Reed's solo stuff is immensely over-rated, though. I just cant get into it much.

I think they're brilliant! I got into them only last year and I've been a fan ever since. All their albums were great, for some reason people seem to dislike the Loaded album, but I think it's just as good as everything else they've done. They were a very original band and totally changed music. I've not heard much of Lou Reed's solo stuff, except for Transformer which I love.

if you dig loaded you simply must check out reeds solo rock n' roll animal record. the version of sweet jane on there is utterly devine.

but yea, great band. handful of albums that do deserve to be ranked alongside the greatest ever. and yes, reeds solo output is overrated, but i find its what his music represents and talks about (altough not as eloquently as the hype suggests) to be the key. as maybe is my love for vu comes from.

cages solo output is immense though. its long and illustrious but so amazing that you can finally forgive him for the stooges we will fall and his treatment of ann on their debut.

Love them, and Lou Reed solo too. Used to listen to them non-stop junior/senior year of high school. I can still remember the exact moment I first heard "Heroin" and being absolutely blown away.

My roomate has this box set of the Velvet Underground - it has a peelable banana peel sticker on it.  For a long time, I would just peel and unpeel the sticker and not listen to the music.  hihi

But seriously, I dig Lou Reed.  'Sister Ray' was such an eye opener for me.

Any fans (that still post here Tongue)? I've had Sunday Morning and I'm Waiting For The Man downloaded for a while and I finally got their debut the other day. Heroin was the other song that stood out to me on the first listen. Cool Might see if I like any of their other albums.

Who else likes the VU?

Great band when you are in the mood for that sort of stuff.

Enjoy the first album the most, great sound they had on it.

Never understood the follow up album.

But some of the later albums were great too (cant remember titles)
