Axl's voice getting lost in the mix

How is it that his vocals came through in 1992 vs 2006, Any idea why he isn't front and center in the mix anymore? He gets lost quite frequently...

Becuz of the band. the ONLY loud player in GNR was Slash. Gilby was ALWAYS so quite. as was Izzy. mostly becuz they are not very strong players Unfortunatyl. With this band however all the guitar players are strong and have equal rights in the Mix. They are all blasting marshall JCM stacks at max volume through the PA. so the whole band is gonna be more blended together rather then the whole "slash-axl show" of the early 90's

The mix on that Yesterdays was done pretty professionally, unlike the Inland Invasion which was a super cheap soundboard, with not so great mix.

I've been to 2 shows on this tour and it happened at both. People have blamed the sound guy, but in reality a souind problem would be taken care of in one show. Bach's and Roach's vocals came across perfectly. This leads me to belive that the reason we can't hear Axl during some parts of some songs is because (1) he purposely has the mix on his mic downor (2) because he isn't signing loud during those parts...you know almost just taken a breather while pretending to sing loud. Sounds illy I know, but if you've been to the shows then you know that the sound problems are intentional whether it be the soundboard guys or Axl. You would know this because Back and Roach sound perfect through the mic.

I wouldn't be surprised... the "Axl was low in the mix" has been a complaint since the very first New York shows. Not that I think he needs to be low in the mix. It must be a request from Axl himself.
I actually think the whole band is mixed very soft. Compared to Alice In Chains at Inland Invasion the actual volume was much lower.. which.. I don't know.. I found it surprising. I wish they would turn it up.. and Axl too.

Gilby was super strong! So was Izzy. Have you heard them play?

i've seen him 4 times this year... the first show at Hammerstein we could hear his every word, every nuance in his voice, screams, etc... at MSG, I couldn't hear shit, but then again i was only three rows back in the pit, so maybe i was too close (in front of the main speakers)... At Baltimore however, we could hear him 80% of the time... i think maybe #2, above, is right... that he isn't singing loudly all the time... if that's true, they should maybe try and turn up his vocals in the mix... not sure tho...

when i saw them in 92 in chicago, it was as you see/hear in the youtube's of that show, maybe not PErfect voice, but you could hear EVERYTHING, every note..
Then when i saw then in 02 in chicago, probably at least 25% of the time he was drowned out...
People make the wrong argument too, they saw, his voice sucked in 92 or it was wrecked etc and now its so much better...thats not the point, bad or not i want to HEAR it!

I saw the new band last June and the sound was great. Axl's voice was great. The mix was great. You could hear him very well.
