first day pass?
Axl and the band had a great begining of the tour
-almost soldout arena
-great crowd
-great performance
-great a first reviews
so many people here talked that tour will be desaster, well it's not happen?
without album, without single gnr had a full arena, and this trend wiould be countinuing!
so,where do gnr go,we will see,but trend from europe is in usa now(fully arenas, great performances...)
well in the end of the year, this tour will be in top ten tours in the year?
2006 will be more more better and successfull than 002,this is fact now?
this band killed all your scepticals first night

skeptics will persist even if the record comes out, is a success, and the band starts selling most of their shows out.

They didn't really have that high of a bar to meet in order to say the tour got off to a better start than in 2002, seeing as that tour started out with a no-show and a riot.

This won't change, even with a possible new album for the '07 secong leg. GNR just aren't that relevant anymore and never will be. I am a HUGE fan, but I'm just telling it like it is, without the bias most people on this site have. Everyone wants to believe they'll be on top of the rock world again, but it won't happen - not without the other former members...and even then, it'll be more like a Crue reunion with the old stuff driving the ticket sales. BTW, that is the ONLY thing driving 95% of the sales now and even when they release CD, it'll be like Metallica's Load - everyone hated it but they won't stop seeing them because they still want to hear justice, puppets, etc....To this day, fans at Metallica shows leave for the bathroom when anything Load-present is played.

Well that is your opinion and you are more then entitled to it? Can I ask if you were at any of the shows? Because what I saw each night was close to 90% of the crowd not familiar with much, if any, of the new songs, but by the end of these songs they were cheering as if they just heard one of their favorites.
You are correct that the mentality of the music buying public is pretty piss poor, but I disagree that original members are required to bring up any interest. People were going nuts for the individual solos and the new elements that are now present in the old songs. The trick isnt getting people to buy the album, it is getting people to get to the concerts. Once they see these guys in person a large majority will be won over.
I made a point of asking people around me if they had seen GnR with the old line-up. Most didnt, but those who did said after the show that the band is better or as good as the original band in their live performance.

I think that GNR has the ability to become relevant again - They just have to get the material out there. Stuff like SCOM and PC will always be classic, but I strongly believe that the music on CD will be very commercially viable.
Axl's voice is another factor - He still has one of the most easily identifiable voices in rock, and when it shows up over a new song, I think that people today will perk up their ears.

This won't change, even with a possible new album for the '07 secong leg.? GNR just aren't that relevant anymore and never will be.? I am a HUGE fan, but I'm just telling it like it is, without the bias most people on this site have.? Bullcrap. Tampa was LOADED, and it was an amazing show, and that's without this stuff.
I'm sure in 2006-07, GN'R will have their fans & their enemies just like back in the day. But they definitely have the ability to be relevant again. The shows I was at, people LOVED the new stuff and it got great reception, and a few of those songs are B-sides. That place would've erupted if something like TWAT or CITR was played.

Just to add. Keep in mind, Estero was also a smaller venue than the Center or the Forum.

Everyone will identify with Axl's vocals. Whether they like the music under it is a different question. I knew people who love the old GNR music but hated Axl's vocals.
Where do we go?

I'm not sure what you are getting at. It is a smaller venue so yes there will be less people than the other shows even if it was sold out. I was just amazed at the amount of empty seats considering the radio station was promoting the hell out of this show.
The only thing I could think of was that this was the most expensive ticket of the Florida shows. To the non-diehards $90 might be a bit much.

I know, and agree. I was kinda shocked at the small crowd, but they were a good crowd nonetheless.
I do find it ironic I paid about $15 LESS for the same kinda seat in Tampa, and Tampa was a MUCH better show. Everything was just ON that night. Lots of people, great energy, and the band was on, everything came together.
Estero was good, but it just didn't quite get there. Good crowd, lots of sitters and empty seats in a smaller venue. I was just proud of the band for coming out and giving us 110% even though they knew they had a lackluster crowd size.
I don't think Estero's problem was promotion as much as it just wasn't the 'area' Sunrise/Lauderdale or Tampa was. Alot of people didn't even know where Estero was or is! It's not quite Fort Myers, not quite Naples. And it ain't like either of those cities are that big either. The show just happened to get booked in a desolate area. We were out in the swamp.
