Hopefully the next VR record will be good - but will only do OK - same with the next GN'R record.? At the end of the day both bands are lacking the key ingredient in Mr Stradlin'.? Both are lacking his songwriting prowess.? He's the only guy who's still friends and in touch with all the original band, so hopefully... a couple of years time and the UYI line-up will be back.? We need Dizzy's keys... and Steven won't be able to handle the UYI material.? He'd do well to handle the AFD material, given the state he's in.
Plenty of Izzy, Reunion, Adler and "Dizzy's keys" talk in the appropriate sections.
Lets say we keep it that way.
Thanks.

I expect the band to be together a long time. They were having so much fun playing together and they seem to have good chemistry. I also think that the workig arrangement is flexible enough that they can do solo projects inbetween VR projects and everyone is happy. I don't see any reason why the band would disband after the second album. I expect the second album to be better and I think they will tour strongly.

Furthermore, I don't think it is that important for the second album to be a classic. The first album was solid, even very good. But not a classic. I did not even like it that much until I saw them live. And that is my point. VR is a killer live band. And they like being on tour. So as long as they are having fun and putting on GREAT shows, I think the band will stay together. Their longevity will not hinge on what they do in the studio. You know, Keith Richards said, a few years back, that the Stones "were always a better live band than studio band.' Of course, he was justifying a series of mediocre albums, but the point is that bands can live (and thrive) even with less than stellar studio albums. Reality: if GNR depended on studio albums to survive, the band would have dried up and blown away a long time ago.

How long do you think VR will last?
If the next album does well, i guess we'll see a 3rd album, if the album flops,do you think the band will split or go ahead and continue and make a 3rd album
If VR were to split, i think Slash would continue to do slots on other artists albums and possibly even form a new band or bring back Slash's Snake-pit. As for the others, i have no idea
Since Slash and Adler are friends, it would be good to see them back in a band together
i believe VR has a 3 album deal with RCA... so we'll get 3 albums, after that who knows.
Weiland wants to make solo albums, and the STP reunion will also happen down the line... VR will break up when Weiland leaves.
as to when that'll be, your guess is as good as mine.

that'd be Rick Rubin.

A similar situation worked out well for Green Day, when their record got stolen. Look what they came up with when they let it go.
I saw Velvet Revolver one week then went to see Carlos Santana the next at the same venue. This was like a case study in opposites, Carlos volume was ten time what Velvet Revolvers was and so was the energy. It was like Love vs. Hate, Hate was not nearly as powerful as love in the translation. It wasn't Scot that was shooting lighting bolts from his eyes either; compared to the rest of the band HE seemed the mellowest. Them thorns in the roses? Scot can sing so they have options outside of anger and discontent these dimensions like Slipknot leave me reaching for The Eagles Cd after a while. I want to see some vulnerability, what good is a broken rock star if you think there is no chance to put em back together.... who wants to put back together a viper den of discontent.
I am a huge fan of Rick Rubin?s it will be interesting to see what he brings out in this band. I think it will be great.

eh, if the next album is really kickass, they'll make a good third album
if the next album is sucky/mediocre, they'll try again and make a bad third album

Hopefully for awhile, VR and GNR should definitely be able to take Rock back to the supreme level of music. Im Pro-GNR, but I'm a fan of VR and definitely looking forward to the new album. Spring is the target release date right?

Isn't it funny how things get misconstrued...
From what I've read, I believe Rick listened to what VR had and liked some of the songs, but told them keep writing, so that they'd have a lot of songs to choose from. That way they'll pick the best from the batch for the album.

I dont understand why some people would assume that VR will disband, If Axl wasnt such a pain in the ass they would all still be in GnR, These guys have REAL chemistry and to me that is a sign of strength.
They will be around for a while, Scott is the only worry to me.

as much as i'd want an STP reunion the DeLeo boys seem to very happy with Richard Patrick in Army of Anyone right now. and it looks like they will be making music for a long time as well. scott seems to have smoothed things over with the DeLeo's though, i hear they are talking and are friendly again.
i'm not totally ruling out an STP reunion but if it happens it will be a really really long time from now, due to VR's contract as well as Army of Anyone kicking off this year.
Velvet Revolver and Army of Anyone seem very content together so i mean who knows.
