I Won't Be Told Anymore

« on: October 09, 2006, 04:54:18 PM »

During the massive Illusion Tour they must have performed nearly every song they had ever done over those years of touring....

Just wondering if they ever performed the Don Cry (alt version) off Illusions 2.  I've just seen a vid for it that i had never seen before on youtube.com And just got me wondering ...Because its got some great lyrics, it's a great version  ....and would love to hear a live version if it was ever performed.

peace

It was a pretty rare one to be played live. That Prague performance might've been the last.

I know it was played at the MSG '91 show. But it was pretty damn rare, definitely as rare as hearing something like Bad Apples or Coma live.

Personally I wish they'd played it more. I always thought it was better than the original.

Yeah it was rare. I'm too lazy to check it, but I think it was only played once. Unless if it was played in a show that we don't know much about. But I really think they should have played it more often.. especially on the Skin n' Bones -tour. Or when they had two/three shows in the same place.

I wish they played the alternate version more. I love the two versions of Don't Cry equally.

It was definitely played a few times. But to have a song only get played 3-4 times in a two and a half year tour, is pretty rare.

It was definitely played more than once, but probably no more than 5 times.

I know the MSG '91 show played it, because that particular set was Use Your Illusion II-heavy, and also featured live performances of Civil War, 14 Years, Yesterdays, KOHD, Breakdown, PTU, Loco, So Fine, Estranged, YCBM, and DC-alt.

They certainly played it. I have a live version of it. I also believe on Makin' Fuckin' Videos for Don't Cry, there's a clip of Shannon Hoon singing it live with them. It's brief, but it's there.
