Remember the uproar from everyone - myself included - when it was rumored that a GNR Greatest Hits 2 would be released? Something like one disc picked by Axl...I don't remember the specifics. Obviously a second volume is a stupid idea, when the band's only released 3 proper studio albums, but whatever happened to this idea? Did the label drop it, was it only ever a rumor? I seem to remember something semi-official about it being found. Given the success of the first Greatest Hits, I wouldn't have been surprised if it had happened.

It's coming later this year with new songs and will bear the title "Chinese Democracy" Smiley

Haha, good one. I'm hoping that the record label backed off this idea when they released Axl was serious about the album coming out this year.

The further away we are from a GH2, the better off we are, for the sanity of all involved.

I had actually forgotten all about that with all the news that started when gnr started touring. I guess the label dropped the idea when Axl finally delivered something concrete in relation to Chinese Democracy, because from what we understand the Greatest Hits albums were just a way for the label to make some cash and hopefully push Axl towards releasing Chinese Democracy. I guess if Chinese Democracy is really coming out, it means that the label has no reason to release GH2 anymore.

Why bother with GH albums.. hell, if they wanted to do 3 of them, they might as well just rerelease the three main albums (AFD, UYI1 and UYI2)....

I just bought a GH - the Chinese Version - and they released a two disc set. It rocks - very cool.

I know this has nothing to do with a GH 2, but it is basically a GH1 and 2 combined.

I'm pretty sure the Chinese 2 disc version is a bootleg.

They should put out the GH2 after this new band puts out all there records.  Then you would have 1 greatest hits of the old band, and a greatest hits with the new band.

GH only came out for the record company to put the squeeze on Axl to get CD out faster.

It didn't work obviously.

GH2 was just a threat that if CD wasn't announced for 2006, they'd put another GH out, which is huge on sales, but hurt's a rock artist's image.
