Yeah, there was the Watergate Scandal, but he really was a brilliant guy. He just had issues with self-confidence. He was guaranteed to win the election and only tapped the Democratic National Convention because he still wanted to know what they were saying/doing/planning. He was in a way like Howard Hughes and Axl in the sense that I think he was kind of reclusive, he was by far the most conflicted president we've ever had and definitely one of the most intriguing.

Apart from Watergate he did great stuff in foreign relations. I mean the man gets a bad rap all the time because of Watergate but if you look past that, he really was a great president in terms of what he actually did.

Nixon was charismatic which is a trait i admire in Presidents. Bush seems to severly lack in that area.

 Roll Eyes

a) he didn't tap anything or order anything to be tapped, he covered up for others once he realised what they'd done....
b) your point is hilariously absurd

Nixon was a vicious anti-semite, a crook and an all round bad person who permenantly damaged America

Ye gods, with such attitudes around no wonder Bush won two elections......Nixon lied to the Senate too......

oh and incidently more troops died in Nam under Nixon ''lets get our boys out' than under Johnson 'lets send more boys in'.....

but kudos to Nixon for authorising the carpet bombing of a city confused

Oh, really?

Quote
Nixon is noted for his diplomatic accomplishments in foreign policy, especially d?tente with the Soviet Union and China, and ending American involvement in the Vietnam War. He is also noted for his middle-of-the-road domestic policy that combined conservative rhetoric and, in many cases, liberal action, as in his civil rights, environmental and price control policies.

As President, Nixon imposed wage and price controls, indexed Social Security for inflation, and created Supplemental Security Income (SSI). The number of pages added to the Federal Register each year doubled under Nixon. He eradicated the last remnants of the gold standard. Nixon created the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), implemented the Philadelphia Plan, the first significant federal affirmative action program, and dramatically improved salaries for U.S. federal employees worldwide.

I call that cheating and invasion of privacy. Maybe he could've been a better president if it wasn't for the Watergate Scandal.
