He clearly says the tour will start around Oct 24th with a few shows before. Best guess is single just prior to Oct 24th and album release around Thanksgiving. Big record like this will hit at the best moment for sales-no doubt about it. They need to set the date soon though so other artists can react to them-as far as scheduling goes.

I can't help but think that November 21 is gonna be the magic day.

I think you guys just nailed it, given the information we currently have. KROQ would be the North American equivalent to RIR5; to introduce the band to the stateside audiences. Then, gradually build up the hype for two months until the release, nailing the major shopping season this year. Black Friday is still "fall, late fall".

They'll move a SHIT-TON (yes, thats an actual number) if they release it the same week as Black Friday. People that normally wouldn't buy it will buy the piss out of it for xmas gifts. If it's released that week everywhere such as Best Buy, Wal-Mart & Circuit City will have it featured in their Black Friday ad for some ridiculous price like $6.99 or something.

The label will only be satisfied with a holyfuckton.

Well, you don't have to be an a-hole and correct me, but yes you're right they are targeting a holyfuckton before they view it as a success.  Grin

After pouring a crapton of money and a holyfuckingshitton amount of time into the production, anything less would be a poopypound.

The best date to release CD would be Nov 14.  My rationale.  First week sales take it to number 1 just based on the die hards.  Second week sales include Black Friday and with a good promotion machine in store, radio, tv and internet they'll continue to take huge sales.  Third week and beyond will carryover additonal holiday sales.  They would be missing a big opportunity if they wait until December to release the album as a lot of people's budget for holiday spending runs dry by then.
