Izzy is the best so far other than Slash. He wrote so many great songs. But Finck has potential. As of now, anyone who says he's better than Slash is just wrong. Fact, not opinion.

Duff is the best bassist. Of course he isn't as good as a musician. But musicianship isn't everything. He wrote my favourite song of all time, Paradise City, as well as It's So Easy. That's good enough for me. He also has the best stage presence. Stinson's pyjamas don't do anything for me.

Best drummer, I like Sorum.

Reading this thread, i just cant believe that GNR fans can prefer Fink to Slash, i just dont get it. I like the new band, but for me the lead guitarist in Guns N Roses will always be Slash.

Buckethead was clearly the most able guitarist GNR ever had.

Able?  Able to do what?  bore us to death with his technically proficient but completely meandering and forgettable playing?  Sure, he was impressive, shredding a million notes a minute, but five minutes later, you forgot everything you heard.

Slash is superior.  And Steven was the best drummer.  Sorum blew, at least as far as GNR was concerned.  He would've been good for a speed metal band where he could roughouse and slam slam slam all he liked.

Thats hilarious. You've obviously heard VERY little(if any) of Buckethead's material for you to say such a thing. You just listen to all the cliches and then spew them yourself. Go get a few albums from his vast discography before making such a bold statement as that. I'm sure you wont though. Its much "safer" for you to sit around insulting a musician you know nothing about then it would be for you to open up your closed mind.

Stop reading so many of Nesquick's posts. If he is your guiding light, you will be disappointed on CD release day.

absolutely.  Why do so many 'gnr fans' give me shit because I prefer someone to their precious overrated Slash?   We all have our opinions, and that is mine.

I think some people "give you shit" because you make alot of bold statements in your posts. Nothing wrong with that, but it will always bring a certain type of reaction. Although I dont prefer Finck over Slash(on the old stuff), I can actually relate to alot of the things you say(shocked? hihi). I would rather hear BH, Finck, and Huge/Fortus on CD songs than I would hear all that old stuff. The GNR discography is great, no doubt, but it doesn't interest me anymore. I do not listen to the old albums anymore, and when listening to bootlegs, I only listen to songs from CD. When I go to Arco Arena on Oct. 2nd, I am there for this lineup and the songs they have done. I am not interested in trips down memory lane.

Someone should create a forum specifically for old GNR, so the new vs old bullshit(and all other monotonous topics in the same vein) can be spewed there. People need to either embrace new GNR and Chinese Democracy, or move on.

Thats hilarious. You've obviously heard VERY little(if any) of Buckethead's material

quite the contrary.? I bought a couple Buckethead albums a few years back due to all the brouhaha about him.? sure, Buckethead is a great player, there isnt any doubt about that.? But so what?? so is every fucking guitar teacher.? The true 'greatest' players are the ones who create incredible, MEMORABLE music that lingers in the mind's ear for all time.? Slash has already accomplished that.? No need to sit here and defend him, his track record speaks for itself.? Any rock n roll who hears the first three seconds of most any GNR songs knows exactly who the band is, and who the guitarist is.? Even after all these years.? His work is timeless

With Buckethead's albums, I listened to them and said "WOW!" right after hearing them.? Because he's a great player.? But then I forgot what I heard probably less than an hour later.? the only thing I remembered was that he was a great player, not the music he recorded.? Just because you're "technically proficient", as Buckethead-philes like to call him, ultimately is irrelevant.? The only thing that matter is IS THE MUSIC GREAT?? IS IT MEMORABLE?? Who cares who technical about the technical prowess of the player.

And as far as Axl's band is concerned, all I have to go on there is what has been presented.? at Axl's concerts, it's Buckethead and Finck both fucking up all of Slash's beautiful solos.? The one exception being "Knockin on Heaven's Door", which was beautiful, but was a different rendition of the song that Slash performed, so they didn't really change his work.

talked about closed minds, YOU go ahead and believe that anybody who doesn't like your precious Buckethead is closed-minded.

I'm not "anti-Slash". I'm not one of the guys that hates old GNR. Buckethead fucking up Slash solos? nervous Is that a little comic relief in your post? What BH material have you heard? He has such a vast discography, it would be easy for you to pick a couple of his albums that didnt blow your mind(I dont like all of his stuff either). I can send you an assortment of his best work. peace

Slash isn't overrated, he just happens to be one of the greatest guitarists over the past 25 years!  Shame on you JB, get your head out of your ass!

I like Finck don't get me wrong, but he isn't a guitar god.  Psh, moving on.

Stevie Ad and Jeffrey are my guys.  I like Richie F a lot too.

dude.. the way people keep bringing him into every single topic and how people can't get over the fact that he left 10 years ago makes him overrated.   If I was that upset he was gone I wouldn't be sitting on a GNR board 10 years later whining about it, I'd move the fuck on.
