do you have a cord that runs from the md to the mic so you can place it in a good spot?

a standard extension cord with a 1/4" jack should do the trick... nothing too long, 3 feet or so  peace

i am not sure where i would place that mic though, with nothing to clip it on to.  or would you just hold it?  and does it matter in which direction you have the mic facing?

i have read where some tapers use this sony mic ECMDS70P.? does anyone know if it is any good?? i will be looking at recording if the band comes to edmonton or calgary? drool

I think its good, but its hard to stealth as its quite big. If you use that mic you have to make more effort to stay still other you get a not so good recording.

Better to get smaller 'clip on' mics so they will clip to jacket/hat and you can still move a little without ruining the recording, as long as you don't move too much, lol.

this is one i used it for wembley 30th good recording and fieldsy used his on Hammersmith and any others he did again good recording not bulky at all and cheap

My bad, I was thinking about a different mic.

But don't you have to 'hold' up your recorder all night with that mic?? It has no cable unless you have a line > line jack.

I still think its cheaper to get the CMC-19's from sound pro's - they're only $59 (honestly thats a bargain for these mid-level mics).

The following are mid-range mics for silly prices:

http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cgi-bin/gold/item/ISI-SEHM-1

http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cgi-bin/gold/item/SP-CMC-20

http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cgi-bin/gold/item/SP-CMC-22

http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cgi-bin/gold/item/SP-CMC-19

I recorded the 'Welcome To The Suana' (25/07/06) show with the CMC-19's. If you need me to upload the sample, let me know.

Don't buy 'Binaural' mics unless you are taping right next to the stack (i.e. the speakers). Cardioid mics are made for taping in the crowd as they pic up the sound from the direction you point in. Binaurals pick up sound from all directions - so in a crowd they will pick up all the noisy screamers, heh.

If you need more advice, please ask.  Smiley

yes a cord came with the recorder its 1m long and the mic just clips to your shirt thats it minidisc in pocket and your off the the PCM recording on 1mb disc its i hr 30 min so you have to do disc change which can be a pain picking right moment to do so

Yup, good idea mate. When you've taped something you have material to trade with other people who filmed stuff.  Smiley
