(Assuming rumor is true)

Being that he was primarily a producer,  I think theres a great chance he wont be afraid to really tinker around with the new songs.

He was quoted as saying he just likes to "make it sound good to him." when referring to the final outcome of a song.

Im hoping he drops a lot of the background vocals from other band members (TWAT, BETTER), and some of the sampling from
Madagascar....At least give Axl the option to hear a few different versions.

A lot of these songs are so close to being really really good songs, except for a few annoyances that some of us dont like....Axl
tends to lean to the overproduction side of things when he has his way...And with the respect that Andy Wallace brings to the
table, Im hoping Axl will be all ears.

I can almost picture Merck and other band members not giving their 100% opinion as to not offend anyone...But it's Andy's job to
bring the best out of each and every song......

Well your right...nothing is logical about that...But it is logical that the hottest
mixer in the industry right now is Andy Wallace...He also mixed the Velvet Revolver album
in which Axl had said he wished he produced....That is the logical part.

No, some random dude at mygaynr started claiming that his friend is the son of andy wallace, and he said his daddy is mixing the album, it's no real info, it's just some attention whore enjoying the show right now, watching how all the gnr boards are talking about his crap...  Roll Eyes

Mysteron has been squashing some rumors recently and he left this one alone. Perhaps that means it has a shred of thruth to it. Anyway, I like background vocals from other band members and would hate to see that go. Hearing Izzy and (to a lesser extent) Duff in the background on UYI was really great IMO and I'd love to hear Tommy and Robin in the background on the new record.

Did Axl say that or was that just a rumor?

Yeah, I don't think Axl has commented on VR album at all, and anyway, Andy Wallace did not produce it. Mixing and production - much different animals.

Can I ask an honest question...  What else has Andy Wallace mixed? (anything that will stand out, and please don't reply with sarcasm)

Also, what's the difference between the mixer & producer?

I know that Andy Wallace produced Blind Melon's second album Soup.
I saw a few "making of" clips and he seemed like a great producer.

As far as him mixing? Who knows.

Nevermind, among other things. It's a pretty long list between mixing and production.

In a nutshell, someone who mixes an album assembles existing tracks so that they are at accurate levels after all creative decisions have been made. This is the last stage before mastering.

A producer's role varies depending on the level of guidance an artist needs. Sometimes they have input on arrangements, songwriting, and performances. The quick way to explain it is that, in a perfect world, a producer is sort of a sounding board - someone with an objective pair of ears, as well as knowledge of the technology involved and the industry. If you pay attention to popular producers, you'll start noticing what their "fingerprints" are.

Thanks, so mixing is more post production making the levels proper..

Also, when you said Nevermind, it took me a few reads, but I suppose you were mentioning he mixed the album "Nevermind", right?

Thanks again.
