I belive that "chinese democracy" will be something very huge and very important for popular music in the world...
Also i think that Axl is the man with vision and he knows that, and main reason for 3 guitar players, and two lead players is he don't want to risk !!!
For example if finck leave gnr ,gnr have2 players, and he want to risk his mision!!!

no, he just wants Guns N Roses music to cover a wider range of styles.. so when you have 3 different guys who play 3 different styles, you can just do more.

Richard Fortus, the phenomenon

3 guitar players are not a god idea.? I hope, I really really hope the band will return with 2 next time, Richard and Robin of course (no disrespect to bumblefoot - he is a great guy though). It seems only Axl wants 3 guitars. Not the band in fact...

I will never get used to it.

3 guitar players are great. It is interesting to see them trading licks and solos and changing positions on stage. And by the way I also loved all the solos - the solos make a true GNR concert.

3 because - Fortus plays mostly rhythmn. Finck because he is the new lead player but hasnt got the speed of someone like bumble/bucket which adds the new edge to GNR. so they need 3 Smiley

it's to fill the big stages. like in 93, they were 1 man less than now. and as a result, Axl and Slash had to run their asses off to cover the entire stage so it didn't look big and empty.
now they have 1 man more, and they don't have to sprint around all the time ok

actually, they had 2 less.  chris pittman   Wink  i dont think axl is really concerned with stage space!  i dont think 3 guitarists is a bad idea... its cool to have a 2 leads, as ron can shred and play faster solos and robin can just play more melodic, slower lead style with richard playing rhythm.  however, i dont really understand the need to have 2 keyboard/effects guys.  i suppose we will understand more when we hear chinese democracy   peace

I think it's a good idea to have 3 guitarists in different styles and tastes to each other for the melting pot ie Guns and Roses.

And Axl doesn't feel lonely..........

"♫no one ever told me when I was alone...."

the more, the merrier  ⇒ 3 guitarists are better than 2. ⇒ 8 heads are better than 7.
headbanger  believe in the 8! Incidentally, now it's august.

Fortus said in an e-mail there's 3 guitarists because the new album was recorded that way (new songs have 3 guitar parts).

Err... GNR tracks typically have had 3-5 guitars on them with 3 simultaneuos guitars not being uncommon. So 3 guitarists aren't overkill for even just AFD material to be more accurately reproduced on stage. So that's really nothing new. Axl probably saw a chance with the roster changes to move the live sound (of both released and unreleased songs) closer to studio versions by adding third player.

IMHO opinion Axl wanted 3 guitar players in the band to have more variety in the new material and to reproduce the old and new material live as close as possible to the studio version. I don?t see any problem in that but it seems that it is another reason for bitching with GnR  hihi
