Here goes the New York attitude everyone knows about.  Listen, you dont have to tell me your city is better then mine.  You dont think L.A. doesnt have the hippest clothing stores?  Come on.  All the top actors live in Cali.  New York did not save Axl.  Im from Chicago but have been to both L.A. and New York.  Both have there good things.  He will never leave California.  Thats for sure.  He might have a pad in New York but his home will always be Cali.  People like to experience different things.  Its natural.  Im sure if he lived in New York for the past 20 years he might like Cali a lot more if he visited it.  Jen Anistan is buying a house in Chicago with Vince Vaughn because she liked it so much when she was here filming her new movie. That doesnt mean she is going to leave Cali.

Im sure New York is a great city if your rich like Axl.  I doubt hes going to be hanging out in Hunts Point.

We already have a thread for this.

I understand that the topics are coming fast and furious but sometimes you have to be meticulous before creating a thread.

AS a proud resident of NYC, watching the transformation of AXL ROSE over the last 5 months, I can't help but make the following suggestions. NYC SAVED AXL & REMADE AXL ok
NYC is the greatest city in the world - so diverse with over 180 nationalities, so persistent that 9/11 seems here more like a hiccup than the apocalypse. Its no wonder that for the past 12 years, California dreamin was very unhealthy for Axl. He retreated to his mansion and thought he could sort his life up there. Maybe he did to some extent but it didn;t bring him back to his old rock stardom. Sure he came back in 2001 and 2002, but he looked odd, out of shape at times, and with no sense of style and little hunger in his bite. No spontaniety. You wondered how bad of a toll this hermit lifestyle had on Axl.

Watching Axl now, you will see what NYC has done to him. Axl is a FAST learner of pop culture - he once adapted very quickly to the LA from a quiet hippy/punk from Indiana in 1985 into a bad ass Rock Star in leather - and he's done it again! NYC living made him friendly, intimate and hungry. His style is picked right out 5th avenue hippest stores and his news and appearances make Madison Avenue. Now (and why this wasn't reported here I don;t know but it was in yesterday's NY Post) AXL is looking to move to Lower Manhattan (my guess would be Tribeca or Meatpacking District). It was once stated how celebrity couples have a harder time getting along in the gated communities of California than in the intimate neighborhoods of NYC. It seems that Axl has finally found home - IN PARADISE CITY (he said so himself).

Its sad how for 44 years, Axl never reallly had a place to call home. Indiana threw him in jail many times and California LA, even Axl said in a 1991 that it never really felt like home to him. He bought land in Wisonsin with his stepfather in 1990 and thought about moving to the country, but then he changed his mind. But he's always had an affection for NYC, even writing WTTJ on his experiences here as well as filming "The Garden" & "Paradise City" in NYC (or the meadowlands).

I hope for his sake that he moves here. He'll have contact with people regularly again and lose all the stigmas that plagued him and his personal life over the last 12 years. No more "Estranged" on the Malibu Mansion, its time for "Paradise City"

MNR

hey man, as a fellow new yorker, i know exactly what you mean. i really feel like new york has changed him and opened him up from the west coast lifestyle. it was great to hear him call new york his new paradise city. in a weird way, i hope he makes it his home. i'm sure we'll all welcome him here...

NYC didn't kill lennon you douche bag , ?Chapman killed Lennon. ? BTW ? Yankees= american sports . ?Axl reminds me of the Yankees ? people love to hate them ?but nobody can deny their greatness. ? The reason many actors live in LA is because ?they work there. ?Many actors ?live in NYC despite the fact that most of their work ?takes place in LA. ?They are willing to put up with the hassle of flying all the time as long as they get to live in this great city.

NYC is a more vibrant and alive city than LA.  I live in LA, but I've traveled to NYC a good number of times.  After getting back from Monday's show, there's a lot to like about NYC.  The public transportation and not having to sit in traffic with no alternative is nice, and the city just feels more connected and accessible.  You can walk to almost anything you need.  In LA everything is so distant, it's so spread out.  Especially where Axl lives.  In LA he had a good excuse to stay home all the time, because to get anywhere from where he live can literally take hours.  So I can see living in NYC, in the heart of the city, helping him get energized and want to go out, rather than just staying to himself

But that said there are things about LA that are better than NYC.  The weather, the beach, the outdoors.  Both cities have great food.  They both have on thing in common that sucks, nightlife and restaurants are both ridiculously expensive

But Axl needs to play LA soon  crying

Last 5 shows have been in NYC, while they haven't played LA since the 90s.  LA still loves GnR, I can say with confidence the crowd energy, excitement and atmosphere if GnR were to play Hollywood H.O.B. would match what we saw in Hammerstein smoking

great post.. yes the crowd here would eat this kind of stuff UP!  and as some people are saying, Axl will never leave behind LA, its been part of his life for way too long. (plus he has a sweet mansion in malibu!!)

Also, he recorded the majority of his greatest songs and the great songs we have yet to hear in LA!

Shotgun and Chief, have you ever driven by his place?  I really hope my favorite rock star doesn't leave L.A..  Maybe I'm being selfish, but that would suck if he left, which I don't think he will do.  He's invested so much of his life in that house.  Maybe he'll just get himself a flat in NY, but hopefully he won't spend too much time there OR his Malibu house because he will be very busy touring! ok  And see you guys at Staples! beer

I've driven the road it's on.  There are a lot of big mansions on the road, although I'm not sure exactly which one is Axl's.  It's a beautiful area, but it's out in the middle of nowhere.  As you well know, getting from the hills in Malibu to the Westside is a trek, even if traffic isn't that bad

hey man,
yeah a long time ago since my friend knew where it was we drove by. you can't see much from the outside but what you can see looks pretty sweet! we just drove around malibu that day and checked it out real quick, since he knew someone who lived very close.  In my opinion its too great of a place and too much history for him to just completely move to another city.
hope to see you at the next GNR show in LA too!!!  peace
