sadly, the new guys will forever be linked to the old band...unless we get 2-3 albums out of the new band and they are massive hits.? But AFD is pop culture, Axl, Slash and Duff are icons - its just a fact everyone has to live with.
It's normal. I don't see where the problem is. The old band with Axl, Slash, Duff and the rest of the guys sold 90 million records woldwide.?
The newGNR still hasn't sold 1 record yet. Not even 1.
So... it's normal.

never said it wasn't 'normal' or that there was a problem. in fact, that was my point - that reaction is to be expected. I said its sad/unfortunate though - the new guys will never get the respect they deserve (for exactly the reasons you listed).
we're on the same page dude.

Hour and 15 mintues late?!?! ?Where the fuck do they get that from?!?! ?The opener went on stage at 9 and played for about 45 minutes or so then there was an hour to set the stage. ?11 was a great time to start. ?once again FUCK MTV!!!! ?Those assholes should stay out of the music scene and make another season of Real World since that's all those fucks do nowadays......
I saw the actual schedule for the evening - if I could figure out how to attach the pic I would - and it lists GnR's set from 9:45 - 11:45, which would explain the 1 hr 15 min late part.? But it also states that BfMV would play from 8 - 8:30, and at least on the 12th, that certainly didn't happen.
having seen the shows, i understand what you are saying...but ya know it's very possible that some of the new members have never even heard every guns n roses song nevermind knowing how to play them. ?so it's hard for me to agree that these guys are GNR. ?they are 'new' GNR....but thats as much as i'm going to give them
As for the review, I think it was fair.? However, after seeing GnR live a few nights back, I'm done remembering the UYI era.? Robin, Tommy, Brain....these guys now *are* GnR, plain and simple.? The "cover band" line will go away real fast after the CD comes out...

I dont get it...
Even if you weren't a fan of Guns N' Roses, and were on the floor on the 12th, you would have been made a fan
Exactly. And if you already were a fan - even a hestitant one, like me - I'm officially 100% on-board with this new line-up. Now just get that CD out...

I was made a fan of this new band by attending the shows. ?was blown away by Robin. ?However, they will ALWAYS be "new" gnr to me. ?

Thats how I feel. And there is nothing wrong with that. I have respect for the old Gunners and I don't see myself considering they new Guns the real Guns. All talented and I respect them all.. But new GnR for me too.. And there isn't anything wrong with that. Some people like Coke, some like Pepsi, some like both.

All in all, not a horrendous review, but I hope to God MTV sends Loder the next time they cover Guns.
Yeah, I really thought Kurt Loder would've done(or will do) an of the concert. Even if Loder had given criticism of Axl and the band, I could be more respectful.

Do you just post stuff like this to get people all pissed off? Ofcourse this new lineup of Guns N' Roses hasn't sold any albums, they haven't released any.
The point is this: these guys are Guns N' Roses. They're not a cover band, they're not NuGNR, they're not newGNR.... they're Guns N' Roses. The reviewer for MTV missed the point completely and I guess you must've as well.

not to argue for the sake of arguing, but I disagree and i think a lot of people do as well. Not saying that i don't like the new band....but to me, it's not Guns n Roses. I'll call it new GNR or whatever, but to me GNR will always be Axl, Slash with a cig hanging out of his mouth, and Duff with his big ass bass rig that says Duff spraypainted on it.
If Mick Jagger came out with Robin Finick on guitar instead of Keith Richards, and Brain on drums instead of Charlie Watts, alot of people would get bent out of shape if he called it the rolling Stones. So try to look at it from that point of view. I'm so happy Axl is back and that he put on two kickass shows this past weekend. And really he can call the band whatever he wants....to this fan anyway, as talented as the new members are....there is an asterick next to GNR for me.

I can totally understand that point of view to a certain extent but I'm glad that you actually picked the Stone because their lineup has been pretty rotated as well other then the guys you mentioned. The average music fan can't even tell you who has all been in the Stones, and to be honest they could probably switch out Charlie Watts without anyone caring/knowing.
The point to me is this; using all these little labels, "Nu" etc, they're just not going to change the fact that Slash isn't in the band, ya know?

Sorry but this 'review' loses any credibility here. I scanned through it and noticed this and didn't bother to read anymore.
Obviously blind and just decided to jump on the 2001 bandwagon and just use the typical lazy journalism we've seen this year by just publishing rumour and what people have said over the years.
I have seen the pics for myself and I wish I was in that shape at 44.. he looks athletic and very much in shape.

I like how on their webpage they didn't even bother to use a recent image. They still have an image of Axl from 2002. Now THAT is an example of the high quality journalism at MTV.

Yes..another Reviewer who didn't go to a damn show , reports back things that make no sense ( Axl having problems...not from the many Reviews we have seen of people who attended) or Axl looking outta shape with a pic from 2002.
MTV is a bastion of Journalism baby. They make what Josh Blair did look like high art.

MTV? They're not even a music channel anymore. Laguna Beach and other shows dealing with the assorted problems of rich white girls is more their repertoire.

Meh, once the band releases a couple of records, they'll be legitamized. The fact that they're still hiding their work from the world is doing more harm than good, though.
Honestly, I love the newband even moreso than the old, I really do - But if we get more setlists like the weak-sauce one from 5/14, New GNR is little more than a glorified cover band.
