The game was badass.  Too bad it never got the attention it deserved.

Never sure which one i prefered this or the Ocarina of Time - the Ocarina benefits by virtue of the fact it was the first to do it and has the larger environments

I bought them (again) for the gamecube to get the better graphics - they were revolutionary in their day and even now few things compete.

When Ocarina came out there was nothing anything like it in terms of graphics, depth and quality - still a very special day the first time i played that.

Link to the Past for SNES was the absolute greatest video game ever.  I remember getting it and staying up for almost 2 days until I beat it.  I gave up on video games after the SNES went bye bye.

Zelda for the 64 will always be my favorite, other than Goldeneye 64.

I second that - when you break out the forest and ride into Hyrule Field for the first time on Epona - awesome. You just get a total feeling of actually being in a proper living, breathing environment.

Also check out all the mini-games. Incredibly sad I guess but little quests like fishing were great to. Nintendo make the best games period.

- anyone getting a Wii for Twlight Princess??

Ocarina is the best game i've ever played, nothing will ever beat it. I'd like to see what the new one for the Wii is like though...

IMHO, it compares favorably with Ocarina.  If Twighlight Princess is not as good as Ocarina, it's a very close second.

The Wii is awesome. Smiley

The new zelda game is supposed to be very average - and not much of a progression on earlier offerings despite a considerable time gap between them....

The new zelda game is supposed to be very average - and not much of a progression on earlier offerings despite a considerable time gap between them....

Most of the reviews certainly peg it at a tad more than "very average".  Player reviews at MUCH more than "very average".   I've actually PLAYED it and can tell you it's better than "very average".  Wind Waker, IMHO, was "very average".  TWP is not.  The first couple/few hours are a bit slow, though.

The one complaint (and I don't disagree with it) is that gameplay is very much the same as previous Zeldas, other than the added Wii control. I'm assuming that's what you mean by " not much of a progression".  I think that's a fair criticism, BUT...if you liked the way previous Zelda's played (esp OOT), it shouldn't really effect your enjoyment much.  If you think OOT is the "greatest game ever", you are almost assuredly going to like TWP.  For me, I don't need the game mechanics and gameplay to get a MASSIVE overhaul every time a sequel in a franchise comes out....so long as the game is fun, entertaining, and offers SOMETHING new (in this case, a new storyline and the Wii control scheme).

Remember, the GC version comes out soon, too.
