Should GN'R follow The Who's recent example?

Pete Townshend of The Who recently mentioned on his website that the band have recently completed an 11-minute project called "The Glass Household" that will be released as a limited-edition CD just before their tour will start in June, followed by the actual new album in September. Of course, the tour and album scheduling is similar to GN'R's situation, so do you think they should release something similar to this "EP" before the tour starts? I think it would be a pretty good idea, and would show that CD is coming, even if it's after the Euro tour.

I think they should just release the album if they want the tour to succeed.

Unless, the only new songs played live will be those that were leaked.

Unless there is *something* that is released prior to the tour, then I think it's likely you are rght. If they play anything new on tour, then there really isn't a lot left we haven't heard for the album! Oh well, we'll see

Yeah, GN'R releases statements as often as other bands release albums.
The Who's idea is great for a functioning band that has a time schedule.

No. The Euro Tour is already a success, with or without an album.

how is it a success? They have not turned up for the shows yet. What if no one has told Axl they're playing?

it's simple the album has nothinng to do with people filling those seats, all tehy had to say was gnr is going to play ,throw some old footage on the screen for promo and the tickets will most likely sell. The album means dicks as far as sales.. I bet in europe witht eh way teh fans flock to see a band they don't even know who's definetly in that CD will go platinum as long as it says GNR on the cover..

Exactly! If they were called "Axl Rose's Silly Band" or something, the seats probably wouldn't sell as much. But they aren't being called "Axl's Circuls" or anything like that, they're calling them selves Guns N' Roses, the name of a legendary band. And who wouldn't want to go see Guns N' Roses...?

That's far from the point Mike....
He needs to promoting something....
This album....
Bands dont tour with nothing to promote anymore...like if worse comes to worst, bands will tour behind one new song a Greatest Hits package...
Axl is very smart though...if not September, I see a Summer release...
September makes no sense...
All the kiddies are out of school loaded with spending $$
They want new CD's and to go see some wicked concerts...
