No, it's not weird.  There could be plenty of reasons why he didn't give a quote.

the hell with VR, GNR kicks their ass ... but ill tell you what, a super tour that would ring in a ton of cash would be a GNR/VR tour, were they play their own music, then close with show with the original GNR doing paradise city, therefore that would put the end to the reunion rumors, but would satisfy those who would want to see the original line up perform one more song together

Surprised this isn't over in the VR section.

VR is trying to do something different with this record, you have to give them respect for that.

I predict Chinese Democracy would more likely blow Libertad away though ( who the fuck knows for sure untill we hear them)

Sounds interesting at least. I'm not a fan of VR in the least, but that could easily change with this second album - I like the process they're using, and if they come up with something that's different and excellent... More power to them!  beer

why are slash and duff so accepting to changing the way they do things, but when axl wanted to change and not do another afd, he was called pretty much a volatile dictator

You're right, we haven't really heard much from them, especially Slash (he hasn't said a peep)... so for all we know Slash probably hates the idea of Pharrell and all that stuff...

yea thats what im guessing, slash usually loves the media, all of vr loves media, and they havent said a word? weird i think, so no one knows what is going on anymore, and then there is all the gnr reuniting rumors.

idk if im too crazy about them being "different."  im worried about them working with pharell williams, and i read somewhere that this album was going to be more "danceable." umm i dont know about anyone else but i dont listen to vr to dance.  i also heard that contraband was kind of quickly thrown together and they just had fun with it, and on the new album they are going to take their time and have really good songs. so who knows, the secrecy and the rumors are killing me! lol

Slash didnt leave gnr because of change in musical direction. he left because Axl was being a dictator and hired guys like Paul without the consent of the rest of the band

Weiland thinks the diverse sounds are starting to come together. "It's going great," he says. "We have about fifty songs. We have to whittle it down, record twenty and then pick about sixteen." But with all the creative decisions left, Sorum thinks new music will hit radio "by the end of the summer."

It is pretty odd that Slash is silent and seems to be absent from the group.  Usually, Slash is very vocal about promoting his current band.  Plus, the fact that he's not even mentioned by the others in the collaboration talks.  Weird.

The first album they talked all this shit about this and that.? It rocked hard, they were very close to having a really great album.? Hell, they spent a very long time writing the music, I know they "recorded" fast, but the band had the music written for a long time before Weiland even showed up.? So I guess I don't like how they now dismiss Contraband and say it was rushed and all this.? At the time they thought it was a bad ass record that was going to change music.? Well, it didn't change much, but I do enjoy it very much.? I am not sure if I like them abandoning the rock out style they had on the first album.? VR is a band I want to listen to to rock out too.? I still may, I just don't like how it appears they are searching to be different.? It almost sounds contrived.? Why not just record the damn thing and suprise us fans instead of making these claims and getting us to thinking one way and then doing something else.? They don't even mention Slash anymore.? Also this sounds just like when GNR went from Appetite phase, where everyone worked together, to UYI phase, where everyone recorded and wrote at different places.? They were both great albums, just different.

bottom line is they need to make a deeper record. a memorable one. Not one that has instant success and than slowly fades as people get bored with it
