I mean, those are (Death) metal bands, and their fans could mess up/fuck GNR show...it's not the same public.

Yeah, they might spoil it, a lot of death metal fans are not quite into GNR category of likeness, I only hope GNR has the best show of the evening.

the equivilant 'metal' bands from late 80's would have been bands like metallica, megadeth, slayer etc etc

I think Lacuna Coil SUCKS ROYALLY. I saw them up for Rob Zombie in NY and the Nokia, and every single one of their songs sound the same. A hot female lead singer doesn't make up for the fact that they blow.

I dont agree on that.
I think alot of the people listening to heavy metal (including myself) got into that kind of music because of GNR, Metallica, Pantera etc.
GNR has alot of rockblues songs, but most of them have much metal elements.. Take the vocals.. Axls screaming.. i dont put them in the same
genere... But i think the audience is not that far away..
