« on: November 30, 2004, 11:52:22 PM »

I was  going through a box of stuff that had been misplaced for a lot of years.  In it was my cassette verion of "Live Like  A Suicide" on the  Uzi Suicide label.

The cassette and insert are mint.  Anyone know how I can find out the value of this?

Thanks

It is hard to tell how many copies of this cassette have been made. I would estimate it at about the same price as the vinyl (that is around $150), although it is harder to come by.

Heey, I've got a LLAS tape too. I'm willing to sell it if someone offers like 150 bucks. But I'm a bit late now. Uh..

I really doubt it's worth 150 Dollars. Actually.....I find that price rediculous... I would give like 15 Dollars... if it's really rare. We are talking about a cassette here.

Vinyls are a whole different thing. But 150 Dollars for LLAS?? I've seen it for 50 Tongue

Again, $150 is a professional price, a quoted value. You can find it for less than that on ebay, but the truth is the cassette is hard to come by.

I would Pandora setting the value around $150 if it's in great shape. I think in the next five to ten years you won't find anymore cassettes.

Professional prices are ripoffs. They make me think of those sandwich places at the airport Seinfeld was talking about: "Tuna sandwich? $18, we think it's fair." I would never pay $150 for a cassette.

That's because you're not a die-hard collector.  Grin  It all depends on what you like most. I know I wouldn't pay the prices you pay when you buy silver bootlegs from Japan. To me, THAT's a ripoff Wink

Yup, that's expensive, and that's why I don't buy a lot and I have to choose very carefully. I'm a die-hard collector but I don't collect the same things, like you said. Wink

Actually if I had enough money I would collect everything (boots and official stuff)... Grin

Edit: I will not comment any further on this cassette since he's trying to sell it.

I honestly don't expect anyone to offer me anything substantial for it.  It's nice knowing that it may be worth that much, I've pretty much decided to just put it in the safe and forget about it for a few more years.

Of course, if someone were to make a serious offer...

I have a an original, sealed (still shrinkwrapped) Live Like a Suicide cassette, so I pose the same question, anyone know what it could be worth?

A few years ago, I would have said "as much, if not more, than the vinyl". When I bought mine about 5 years ago, it was very hard to come by compared to the vinyl. Now I see them pop up on ebay all the time. So either some of them are fake (I assume it's easier to fake a cassette than a vinyl), or it's not as valuable as I originally thought. Worth $60 at the very least anyway.

The other problem is that this EP has been bootlegged like hell, and most of the vinyls available on eBay are fakes.  I imagine it is the same way with the cassettes.

This album was produced in EXTREMELY limited numbers, so chances are most of the copies floating around are bootlegs.  There are methods to determine the authenticity (e.g. on the vinyls you can read the code scratched into the centre of the vinyl), google it.

This is not always reliable. I've seen fakes that had the right code on the vinyl, so.....

As I said in another thread recently, I think most vinyls are real, but I'm starting to have doubts about the cassettes.
