As far as I know, GN'R haven't had a drum solo in their set since 1993.... Huh

/jarmo

yeah that's what I was thinking.

anyhow, I think it's ok to give Axl a 5-10 minute break in the middle so he won't pass out on stage..
I like drumsolos, not Sorums one, but most as long as they're not longer than a few minutes. same goes for guitarsolos.

actually judging by the new tracks, i think we would be more apt to hear a drum MACHINE solo.

Only if you go to the Chinese DEMOcracy tour.

regardless you know that there will be drum machine on the album. they are in IRS, Better, Madagascar, There was a time, Oh My God, and probably on the others too. i dont know what axls fascination with it is.

Axl's fascination is simply that he has a member the doesn't talk and plays the music.. but most importantly MR. Machine doesn't take a percentage of the cash at the end of the day.

'nuff said.  All drummers who want to solo during a concert must use this as your template.  Go!!!

Don't you think that you need somebody?

I own the Use Your Illusion concert videos but did not buy them on DVD.  Maybe they'd be easier to watch that way!  The drum solo was pretty weak.  I don't think I have ever been to a concert where I loved the guitar and drum solos... the only exception is Slash performing The Godfather theme with the rest of the band gradually joining in.  Short and sweet.
As for the new band, Bucketheads solos were actually pretty good in that he mixed up different styles and parts of his solo stuff along with covers to make something that was new and interesting every show.
(I'm not saying that Robin is not a talented guy, but I did not enjoy his concert guitar solos even a little bit.)
On the demos, Brain seems to use a lot of loops and beats that sound like electronica, not hard rock.  If the CD sounds like that, I'd cheer for drum solo just to get a dose of a real trap set!
