I dunno. I think these particular musicians are a little more into the idea of "epics" and "difficult" songs, moreso than the old band. I'm thinking "TOOL-lite", as far as technical complexity goes...

Yeah, i agree on this one.. I like to belive that the new GNR album will be difficult to like. An album where u can start to really like a new song after 2 months listeninig to it. i love the word "Toolish, or Tool lite"

That is so true.. And dont get me wrong. I dont want GNR to be a Tool coverband, i just like the way they build up theyr songs, and albums, actually Axl was doing this long before Tool. Songs like Coma, Rocket Queen and Estranged is kind of built up the same way. I also love shorter kickass rocksongs...

see , isnt it funny how different people look at music. Listening to bootlegs I find Rhtiad to be much more complex then Madagascar.

True. Rhyiad is much more in the rocker vein , I agree. But the arrangement is much more complex then Madagascar. I love Madagascar heaps but it isnt a rocker and isnt complex at all , it's more along the lines of slow and prodding along.
