I'm not sure if this has been discussed before but, could SOME of the issues relating to CD's lateness be regarding the legal copyright sampling involving the clips used in Madagascar??
I know they were used at the VMA's but, maybe that's different,'cause that wasn't being made to be sold, etc. Having those on a cd is another matter,I would think.
Maybe Axl has being negotiating using some of those clips for a while,in accordance with other crap that he's run into. I dunno, just a thought.

After all these years, surely Axl has came to some sort of an agreement in concern to using the clips for the songs.

Yeah, I think you're correct. GNR performed a very small portion of Madagascar at the VMA's.

It could take a few months at the very most. Not an issue.

Yup, James is correct, the VMA's Maddy wasright up to the point where the compilation of quotes are used, then it goes into PC.

Okay....but,doesn't that reaffirm my statement?? If they didn't use them during the VMA's,maybe it's because they COULDN"T???
They've used them in concert but, people can do anything in concert and pretty much get away with it.

Matt - that definitely can't be a hold up.  Sorry to say it again, but I'm in the TV biz, and we have to get permission for stuff like this all of the time.  Even taking one month for approval or an agreement would be an extremely long time.  So I don't think that's what's holding it up.

I dont think it reaffirms your statement at all. GnR were given a 10 minute segment at the end of the VMA's to do a 3 song medley, and to conserve time they cut the song off at the bridge right before the quotes because they could jump into PC very easily from that point. I also dont think they saw a point in going through 3 minutes of quotes on a live broadcast, the message might not have been as clear and accepted from the audience as it essentially was in 2002.

Personally I thought if Axl wanted to make the biggest splash, he should have performed Maddy in it's entirety, while the crowds on their feet, then break into Chinese Democracy....that song woulda rocked peoples socks off yes

GnR performed Madagascar for the first time on Tv : Rock In Rio III it was broadcast to most of latin america i believe. (well it was definatly on tv). Also im sure they would or sorted it out, or changed some of the quotes if it was a problem.
