Sweet child of Mine had not of been written/recorded etc

So basically imagine a world where SCOM never existed but GNR did, would they be as popular, would they still be together, would they of split up earlier stuff like that, might make an interesting thread if not its one for pandora to lock hihi

Perhaps GNR will be like Def Leppard releasing bad singles instead of the good ones. Just a though  Undecided

If the band hadn't become popular because "Sweet Child O' Mine" didn't exist (or was left off "Appetite For Destruction"), they would've recorded a follow up to AFD with maybe 12 songs on it and "Don't Cry" would've been one of those. I think they would've become popular anyway because they were a bit different from the rest of the bands around at the time.

Without their success with "Appetite For Destruction", I don't think Geffen would've let them release a double album.

i agree they would have been popular in the rock/metal curcuit but commercially they would not of had appeal unless PC was rotated hard enough i think popularity wise they would be say on par with VR as i dont class VR as a commercial band and i hope they keep it that way.

Well WttJ and ISE were released as singles before SCoM and NT, PC and Patience were released after. also WttJ hit #7, PC hit #5 and Patience hit #4. So i don't think it would've mattered to much.

Sweet Child O' Mine and it's classic opening riff is what most people have heard when you ask them about 'Guns N' Roses', so I think it would've made a difference in popularity, atleast as far as 'non-rock' listeners are concerned.
