The only thing I see "The Best Of" doing is promoting CD.

I agree with you, damnthehaters. That was the first thing I thougth when I heard about the Best of album. Maybe Im a bit of an optimist but I feel that there has been a bit of hidden Axl Rose/GNR promotion going on to prepare people for the album. I think it was more than just a pointless act of Charles Branson to dressed up as Axl. He was reminding people of Axl because something is gonna happen in the next few months....
... thats what I think/hope  hihi

You know what, I'm never giving up! When I say this to people, they always have the same negative attitude towards it, and I for one am fucking fed up! Fuck the haters! Who are they to tell you to quit hoping? I'll tell you! Nobody! They just can't deal with the wait! Roll Eyes

And you know what I think this wait is all about? Its a loyalty test! A fuckin' loyalty test! beer If everyone would just quit being all "Its never comin' out, I'll stick with the old stuff" or "I can't hack the wait anymore, there's no point" then we MIGHT have it by now!! The release of GH and GH2 is to see how many people would still buy a Gn'R album, regardless of new or old, and the only reason it didn't come out after GH1 is because that was hits! All the famous stuff that most people like, so of course its going to sell!

And I agree with Mr. Sinister...
I still find the fact that this is a 2-disc GH very suspicious... Something doesn't add up, besides the fact that all of GNR's charted hits were present on the last compilation.
I think we might be seeing bonus tracks on that there GH... bonus tracks that haven't been heard before... Shocked Grin Cheesy

But then again I might just be being my usual optimistic self here  hihi smoking

Jesus christ, relax... anyone who thinks that we MIGHT have Chinese Democracy if certain peoples' attitudes would change ON A FORUM is not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

"Fuck the haters"?  For the last time, we aren't 'hating' on Axl or any of GNR.  We have reason to believe the album may never see the light of day, and guess what??  I think that feeling is pretty validated right now.  If I were 'hating' I would be putting Axl down for his braids, his clothes, comparing him to his old self, etc.

If there really is to be no album, then the impact  extends far beyond the fans. It means that Axl is leading  on and fucking over his bandmates, some of whom are  under the impression that there is an album and it will be released "soon" or even "very soon." I don't think Axl would do that, so I can't say that  I have given up once and for all. Frustrated, yes, but I have not given  up. In fact, I check this site all the time in the hope for news about an official release date.

I really don't think I could give up on this, even if I tried. What I mean is, noone has ever connected with me like Axl Rose. If their is a chance that he might put out some new material today, next year, 20 years from now... I know I'd buy it. GnR was the soundtrack to my teens and twenties, and I haven't found anything better yet. There are other bands that I like, but noone has ever topped GnR(or more to the point, Axl Rose). So I wait. Somewhat patiently.

I think Jimmy meant in concern to the internet fanbase, and how long can it go on. Obviously no one will really "give up", because as long as you're alive you will want CD at some point. This site, mygnr, and others have been sustained for years without anything new. I think the only thing that keeps it going is the friendhips we have with each other. How much longer can "friendships" sustain the GNR online community? Thats the million dollar question. If the hardcore "give up", then he wont even release it. Jimmy, I get the same feelings also. Sometimes I feel like "giving up" and not being a part of this community. But I like the debates we have, and there's some really cool people here. If everyone here gave up, and there was an influx of new people, I also would give up. We are the people who keep the ship from completely sinking.
