If you don't stop posting picture only replies, I'll have to do something about it.

#1 - It's pointless since it doesn't add anything to the discussions.
#2 - It's unoriginal and gets old quickly.

/jarmo

So THAT's why some of my posts have been altered.? I apologize.

Still, what's that saying??

"A picture paints a thousand words."? ?yes

Sorry Jarmo  yes

If the new band is so great, why doesn't their setlist include more songs?  I'm not talking about new songs here?  Look at the 2002 tour, it was AFD + NR, YCBM, 2 covers (LALD + KNHD) and OMG.  Half the songs weren't played by the old band.  Why won't they play songs like Don't Cry, Civil War, Estranged, Coma, etc.  I would rather hear those songs as opposed to Think About You (which was last played in '87), Out Ta Get Me or even Silkworms.

Just a thought...

cuz Axl was trying to get back the rock'n'roll feel of AFD era GnR. not the out of control UYI gnr. And its easy to regather old fans and generate new ones with classic songs that everyone knows. or something like that anyway.

YCBM and KOHD were old school tunes for GnR. in fact in the liner notes for AFD it says "with your bitch-slap rappin' and your cocaine tongue you get nothin' done" I have read that YCBM was supposed to be on AFD but was unfinished at the time of mixing. DC is also an old tune (I have read that it got them thier contract with Geffen)  but i'm not sure why it wasn't played. (too many slow tunes already on the setlist is my guess) LALD was impressive, his scream for that tune was awesome in 2002. NR is Axl's masterpiece, I bet he will always play that song when he performs live.

With that being said, I don't know why they didn't play You're Crazy or Anything Goes in 2002. But I bet it stems back to the MTV interview after the 2002 VMA's when Axl said that the new band re-recorded AFD but with Patience and YCBM instead of You're Crazy and Anything Goes. But again I'm just speculating on that.

Silkworms was only played one time. I guess cuz of bad reviews it wasn't ever played live again? dunno the reason for that either.

The old band was about Rock N' Roll... so going back to a point I made in another thread.  Why would Axl go back to his roots when in 96-97, he abandoned all the old players cause he wanted to make a techno/industrial record.  I don't understand...  I know there was more to it than that but it still doesn't make sense.

Thanks for your reply Neemo!

No problem, but its all just my theories of course. (its not neccesssarily true facts)

yeah the industrial thing was a rumor, but basically i think Axl just wanted to keep getting bigger and evolving and the rest of the band wanted to scale things down. but that being said, why are Slash & Duff in VR? it's all a bunch of bullshit if you ask me.

My opinion of the whole scenario? Ego's got wayyyy to fucking big and everything just imploded. they were all strung out and basically killing themselves and couldn't handle the life anymore. They grew apart. In the Behind the Music Special, someone says that it was impossible to get everyone to even talk to each other at the end

This is one of the biggest misconceptions about Axl. No1 has said he wanted to leave rnr and his roots. Axl wanted to incorporate the newer styles of music with what GNr was already doing. But to think he wanted to solely do a NIN album or abandon his style is foolish. Lets not forget whos Axls musical idols and inspirations are. Throw that in with some new stuff and we might have something
