You can't blame Guns N' Roses' songs for Axl's bad behavior towards women. Whatever a man does in his personal life is irrelevant with the songs. It's the worst (wrong) way to judge an artist.

This discussion is bs......If you ask me all this totally empty and stupid blasphemous "hip hop bling bling hoe ass money" rap shit we see on mtv these days has a bad influence on society especially kids. Meaning kids watching all this stuff just get completely stoopid. I see these 11 year old kids in Germany, dressing up like these morons and talking laughablenesses about being gangsta, getting hoes driving pimped up rides....come on

Do not get me wrong, I appreciate 2Pac or BIG for many great songs with a political meaning, just something behind the facade of richness and booties. I mean I can not agree with Pac on all things, since he was quite radical as a black person on some issues, but at least there was a meaning to it.

Looking at guns back then....There simply are no more lyrics like "estranged", "coma" "civil war" etc. And even controversial lyrics like "wttj" or "one in a million" are so much more worthy than all this meaningless and faceless stupidity on MTV these days. Because it makes people think and it makes people debate and discuss.

Guns in the 80s was part of this decade, dominated by violent movies, conservative politics, big american cities going down in poverty and crime and generation x. So when AfD came out and the first big tours and riots happened christian conservatives might have been worried about a band, loud, violent and agressive. But with the illusion albums GnR became so much more then just  an angry rock band. You should judge a band not only by its scandals but by its music and by its lyrics. And in my point of view Stupidity is much more dangerous than controversy.

Most teachers are stuck up idiots. I remember when i was in school and i asked my teacher if he knew what good music was like guns n roses  and he asked who they where. I don't belive crap that coms outta there mouths reagrding that stuff. today in my pop culture class we had a discussion on the history of music, and my teacher showed various clips including the major rock and roll bands of our time, such as van halen, bon jovi , gnr, etc. He then showed a video about the evolution of musical lyrics and how they evolved from being happy to dark. He showed song clips from slayer,mercyful fate, metallica, and then gnr popped up they showed the lyrics from it's so easy, you know the part that goes, you get nothing for nothing.... and one in a million, then one of the girls in glass goes "that's so disgusting" and the teacher says i have a problem with gnr because i think they are disrespectful towards women, but yet he praises tupac shakur for being a cultural icon yet his music and lyrics depict women being far worse.

music is not a bad influence on society, it is a by-product of society.

to a certain extent this may not be true, as somebody may decide to take drugs because they idolise gnr and they lifestyle they lead, but at the end of the day it is down to they person and not the music that they decided to start taking drugs.

of course the argument will always exist about whoever is famous at the time being a bad influence. however i doubt an entire existence of social problems can be blamed on musicians/footballers etc. if someone is going to be the scum of society, they will be whether their favourite musician is or not.

I'am just saying that alot of people dont like him and the band for the lyrics in 'one in a million' and alot of people wont listen to Gn'R because of who Axl is, if you dont like the guys playing the music you probably wont listen to it.  Yeah its not a good way to judge the artist because you are just judging the person not the actual music, but I can understand why people dont like Gn'R cause Axl's behavior.
