DTJ, this gag order shit is one of the strangest things about this situation. Not really the fact that there's gag orders, but how no one has broke one. What is it about this whole thing that makes people stay silent? This is where the 'CD doesn't exist' theory comes into play. If there was really something there, you would think that someone would have talked after all these years. But there's just pure silence.

It really is very, very odd.   Axl has either threatened to sue up the ass if these people talk or they are just super loyal..I guess.

DTJ, the most troubling thing concerning no leaks isn't from the guests on CD, but from people who work at the studios that CD has been recorded at. You would think that the janitor would at least say something! Its a very strange situation. This album has been in the making for like 7 years and no one betrays his trust? Hell, Jesus Christ didn't even have that kind of loyalty! Axl must pay these people ALOT of money.

Seriously, it is a very unqiue situation and James has a point that things have been so rediculously quiet that it's quite possible that the album isn't not complete.   Lets see we have 5 months left.

what i woul like to know is if any one has ever approached axl about any kind of collaberation or has he been out of the scene for so long that nobody has been interested in having axl take part in someone elses album or has he just declined any offers that might have been made.

Alan Niven was fired from his position as a manager in '91, and was asked to contribute to an RS article in 2000. That's nine years.

"[...] Doug Goldstein called me, threatening to sue Niven for allegedly breaching a confidentiality agreement. Niven later received a letter from Axl' personal lawyer in Los Angeles, demanding he contact Rolling Stone and attempt to withdraw his comments. Failure to do so, Axl's lawyer warned would result in "swift and sure legal action.""

There's the answer...which what I figured, Axl will sue the pants off of anybody who talks if they are under contract or signed such an agreement.  And prolly anybody who hasn't signed any confidentiality agreement is not privey to any information on the project.

Don't you guys see how easy it would be for someone in the GNR camp to reveal information "off the record"? It rarely happens. Which is strange, considering the veil of secrecy that CD is under. People have been keeping these secrets for a really long time, eventually someone is gonna be a tattle-tale.

Sure, and they have already. Where'd you think those "anonymous sources close to Axl" came from in various articles? Sometimes their stuff probably comes up as rumors  that are very hard to validate since nobody wants to go to the record saying it is so. But no-one who really knows will not say anything openly, because they'd get the same treatment as Niven (which is pretty sad, I'd personally be quite interested in hearing his side of the story).

But no one will really talk about it at length or even sorta detailed...off the record..can't be trusted, these people either have the fear of god put into them by the lawyers or there is just nothing happening.

DTJ, I think some sources who speak "off the record" can be trusted. They just want to remain anonymous and don't want to be sued. But I agree with you about nothing happening. Maybe that is why we get very little info. The project is at a standstill.

Actually people talk about Chinese Democracy. Sometimes they give some info. I think there's overconfidence with the involved people, it's not based at fear threat. Besides itt's not the most important thing in the world to discuss or comment. Brian May and Moby have done a few statements once. One of them told that there's a song that starts like dead horse or something...

I have read the comments from various people that have been privey to the project but I was talking more like in depth information as to what's happening.  NYT article was the closest thing to "interesting" I have read about the whole thing to date.     I am sure the guy who wrote the article is getting sued hihi   I do agree, it's is not the most important thing in the media now.
