Sir Bob Geldof has announced the line-up for his Live 8 concerts - the sequel to Live Aid - and the Spice Girls are definitely not playing.
But details are still being finalised for the five concerts - and Victoria Beckham's spokesman said "a number of conversations had taken place and are continuing to take place about the Spice Girls".

Free, simultaneous concerts will be held in London's Hyde Park, Berlin, Paris, Philadelphia and Rome on Saturday 2 July with a text lottery to win tickets.

It's expected that the show will be seen by around 250,000 people, with about half in the arena, and half watching via big screens elsewhere in Hyde Park.

One of the aims is to raise awareness of Make Poverty History, a campaign to get the richest nations to cancel debt, increase aid and fairer trade rules for developing countries.

The concert coincides with the G8 summit in Gleneagles, Perthshire, and there will also be a rally in Edinburgh on 2 July.

this is a good chance for axl to give a free show in philly, while generating money for whoever the hell this money goes to. a total win win.

but there's no chance of it actually happening.

The line-up, according to Billboard:

Axelle Red will be appearing in Paris.? I think some people are mistaking Axelle Red for Axl Rose.? (Granted, Axl certainly may have been approached about making an appearance.)

The only surprise you're going to see at this concert is the one night reunion of the Spice Girls!

I guess GN'R/Axl definately won't be playing at London now that VR are taking part (which is great news for VR and fans), maybe one of the other dates tho. I doubt it.

 Yo everyone,
It's been a while since I've been on a message board,so this is nice to get back into the mix instead of just reading everything.

We held the original Live Aid along with London, back in '85 when I was a wee pup. Knew about it,watched on T.V. some of it but, waaay to young to go see it.
BTW,there's no money being solicited for at this event. Last time they raised about 80 mil but,now they just want people to show up and be a number for the stats to show the G-8 they are serious about forgiving Africa's debt.

That being said,if Axl were smart,he would join this line-up and do it in Philly.

 2 reasons:

 1) He owes Philly. We got screwed in December of '02. I know. I was there. On the floor. 2nd row. Punched out some A-hole who started to kick my stuff when we realized that something bad was afoot . Anyway.....

He should come back, say he messed up - sorry for the nonsense-blah,blah,blah,and let's move on with it.
Philly would completely embrace him again and.......

 2) He would be seen by an estimated BILLION people worldwide. How's THAT for jumpstart for an album/comeback!!
This would make the VMA's look like a quiet poetry hour. I mean, the response would be remarkable!

They stated yesterday,I heard the press conference here in Philly live, that many bands are still e-mailing him (Bob Geldof) and he is trying to make a way to fit everyone somewhere. He said he got about 140 e-mails from bands over the weekend as word spread like wildfire.

I'm sure something got sent Axl's way. Personally,I think we got kind of a weak line-up so far, compared to the other cities.
A GNR return would SO elevate us beyond all others! Remember,Philly is the only U.S. city that is being asked to participate,so if it's gonna happen with Axl,it'll happen here.

Let's hope he seizes on this opportunity!!!!!

If he doesn't do it,he STILL owes Philly. Even Tommy said so a couple months back. YOU owe us dude!!
I say do a free parking lot concert to kick off your album, like Metallica did back in '97 here in Philly. People came from EVERYWHERE to see this.
A GNR show would top that easily.

Well, that's my first post since being on that grated Romano cheese bored,I mean, board.

 GNR FOREVER!!
