Why did Guns N' Roses have three guitarist and a bass player at Rock in Rio III?

I was always confused because I thought 2 guitars and a bass could do the job...

Please help explain

Paul was primarily on rythum duties... Robin Finck and Buckethead are both in the band due to their unique, individual styles. You only have to watch the concert to notice how they approach playing.

I agree fully with 3 guitars but why was there 4 guitars on Maddy. You know when Axl gets a G aswell?
