The last spoken words from the concert, straight from Axl's mouth :

"See you next summer"............

i saw the band in fargo ND, (lemme tell ya-  party town),   the band was pretty good,
out of the new members i thought Buckethead was freeeeekin awesome,   the other lead guitar player (name escapes me... the gothy one), he was alright,  but did'nt seem like he could play the old stuff to well-  they played like 4 new songs, and they all sounded awesome.  wow-  that was like 2 years ago,   crazy huh

Dude, the concert was FUCKING AWESOME. I flew from Tampa to NYC the afternoon of the show, had a hotel across the street from MSG. We got the last shuttle out of Regan, after some "pursuading" of the gate agent,  before the airport was shut down due to bad snow storm. Made it to the hotel at 9pm.. good thing Axl is always late ... haha!

"SOLD OUT" flashing on the marquee outside, inside the whole place was lit up and electric.

There were some chants of "go home buckethead" and "where's Slash" but other than that I swear it was 1988 again prior to the show. Had some fun in the bar inside MSG with some drunk chicks, and the smoking cops... they were mad we were smoking in the bar, but couldn't catch us.

Once the lights went down, and the opening chords of WTTJ started the place went apeshit... made the hair on the back of my neck stand up!

Axl sounded fantastic and the band did a great job for the most part. I would say the BH impressed me the most, I actually thought Finck's solo was weak, and to be honest he puts a little spin into some of the solos on the old songs that I dont care for, but overall he can play his ass off and has a good stage presence, as opposed to BH who kinda "stands there".

I can't stress enough how good Axl sounded, some of the screams he hit and held for what seemed like an impossible amount of time. By the time PC started there was not a single person sitting or for that matter standing still, Axl slayed the place......

Hope like hell he makes a move soon..... Undecided

Hey man, I can't say that I watch NU-GNR performances while pre-gaming before heading out on the town, but I do like watching the old GNR performances drunk before I go out to get my game on.
I find GNR in Buenos Aires 1993, GNR in the Ritz 1991, GNR in the Felt Forum in 1988 and the like to be great performances that just get better when you watch them drunk, because they you all hyped and into your own game.
Also GNR at the 1988 MTV VMA's playing "WTTJ" - probably singlehandedly the greatest live performance of a GNR song this fan has ever seen - and I've seen a lot.

Cool description of the show. I can imagine how the place reacted, and wish
I had been there. But you know, to me, and I was not there, the DVD is sort of boring. Just not the same energy as the old band. I don't know, could be me.
