I believe the 2002 tour was one last attempt to give the fans the old GNR music.  Afterall, this new band has been working on new music that they are obviously proud of, and they don't want to play old GNR stuff forever.  Well since that tour and the comeback failed, Axl faces a real dilema.

One the next tour, he is going to be forced to play the old GNR material.....again.

When will Axl be able to break out of the old GNR mold?

I think this may be one of the things that is troubling him.  I think to overcome it, he is going to need to release possibly 2 singles before he tours.  And those singles will have to be huge.  They are going to have to get a massive reaction from the media and fans in order for him to have arenas filled.

I think on the next tour the band HAS to play almost all new stuff with only a few old songs every now and then. This is the only way that they will ever break out of the label of just being the best gnr cover band ever.

I would think this is what will probably happen too, because I'm sure that the other members would rather play music that they worked on rather then stuff that is over 10 years old. And I would think that Axl wants to move on from his past and show everyone what he has been working on for so long.

On the 2002 tour they were in a tough spot because they probably wanted to play a bunch of new songs, but Axl didn't want them to be bootlegged and passed around the internet long before the cd came out.

I would think that before the next tour starts we will have the cd in our hands so the band will be able to play all of the songs off of it without worrying that they will be bootlegged and the first experience that people have with them is listening to poor quality mp3s.

The bottom line is that the cd must come out before the next tour starts or else the band will have the same problem they had in 2002 of not being willing to play a lot of the new songs.

The fans (new and old) want them to play old stuff, too. So let's play some (but make Robin and Brain learn the songs), the siganture songs (NR, WTTJ, PC etc.), but forget about SCOM, Mr. Brownstone. Nightrain etc. cause these songs just don't fit the new line-up. I'd like to hear new songs-dominated shows, cause thy play the new songs much better than the old ones, plus it's Axl's new band, so have the courage not turn it into a cover band. But I wonder why they didn't play Axl's UYI songs like Yesterdays, Dead Horse, Breakdown and Shotgun Blues.

No way man Axl could pack out the largest venue in the fuckin world no matter what he could sell out any show even if he played a show of slim dusty covers.
