We would be better off if GNR were dead

I know it's a morbid topic, and obviously does not reflect how I feel about any of the members of both old and new GNR, but this past weekend got me thinking. Ok, I live in Minneapolis, and this past weekend was touted as "Nirvana" weekend. It was a huge weekend on 93x where the station played all the songs Nirvana ever released. Then, they were giving cds away, and even a replica of Kurt Cobain's coffin. Now in these cd's they were giving away, there was something like 45 unreleased/unheard tracks along with a dvd and some other crazy shit. 45 UNRELEASED TRACKS!! Dude, what the fuck?! Now I don't have the numbers in front of me, but Cobain's been dead for like 10 years or some shit, right? How the fuck does Nirvana keep coming out with new albums. It's the same with the Notorious BIG and fucking Tupac. So this begs the question: Had Axl died in some horrific accident in, say 1997, would we have Chinese Democracy yet? My money would be that by now, we would have like 5 extra albums by now, along with 3 dvd's and I'm sure someone would be selling Axl's bedsheets on ebay. Like I said earlier, this is NOT what I or I'm sure any of you would want, but what do you guys think?

I'm afraid I don't get the the topic at all
If he was dead maybe we'd have CD ... But he's not ... and I'm better off CD if he has to die to get it released.
Call me a heart bleeding liberal
(NT
) !
But maybe your point is you're against the release of a "Lennon singing in his bath tube" LP since he's been dead for more than 20 years and because you think it's immoral ? I do think so too.

No, I get you. Nirvana for example is much bigger now than they ever were, and I believe it is because Kurt passed away. I think Axl would be huge if he passed away. However, I don't want that.

No we wouldn't, because work on CD had barely started at that time, and apart from Robin maybe, there wasn't even a new member.
But Axl and GN'R would probably be more popular since dying seems to make a goddamn saint of you in rock n'roll.

Death is a good career move in the world of rock.
Whether intentional or not, it helped many reach a level of immortality and allowed many record labels to drudge up material in the vaults that wasn`t released during their lifetime for profit.

Not me. I lost all my interest in NIRVANA when Kart died in that way. I threw away nirvana CDs I spent my itsy-bitsy pocket money on.
I don?t think dying makes a goddamn saint of you in rock n' roll. For one thing, Beatles n Zep aren't still big because of the deaths of their members but because of their music. And for Another, I don?t think any band can count for their poor popularity to being alive and well.

fucking bullshit.. like someone said before me, bands like zepplin, acdc, etc.. they're still huge cuz they made kickass music.. not cuz they blew their brains out.. and while i agree that kurt's death made nirvana huge, i have to say that i'd rather not have chinese democracy at all if having chinese democracy means axl dieing..

There is more to jimi hendrix, janis joplin, elvis, kurt(you said kart
) brian johnson tha just their death, they have become legends for their music too, The thing with gnr is that they somehow are living legends,
And the greedy coorpirations also contributes with the thing
I gotta admit that the deaths have contributed, like quiting when you're on top also do

It depends if Axl has the vocals recorded on the CD tracks. I guess someone could over-dub any existing vocals to the music if Axl passed away. Who knows. From the articles i have read, almost noone in the studio has heard vocals over studio tracks. Only a select few people Axl trusts, and maybe not even the entire band.
