Rank 'em!  Which "original" band member is the most irreplacable.

1. Axl Rose - Axl's vocals and antics are as much the band's trademark as Slash's solos.  However, can you imagine another frontman singing GNR songs better than Axl?  It's not awful, it just doesn't have the same effect. (ex: Scott Weiland)

2. (tie) Slash & Izzy - Slash's bluesy solos, 'nuf said.  Had to put Izzy into a tie because we are all aware that Izzy's the one who came up with most of GNR's shits but since he only played rhythm, that was replaced quite easily.

3.  Duff - not much to say but he is a good bass player.

4.  Steven Adler - I'm pretty sure we all agree with this one.

Let's see yours.

I say 20.

Sorry but there are tons of the likes already in DH section. Possibly there?s a bit more sense in ranking all those threads than this. It?s all in the past.  peace

It depends, on one hand you have the guys who were the core of gnr, the heart n soul and now you have a new reincarnated version of the band after their glory days..

I will always believe the lead guitarist(after the lead singer) is the one who is unreplacable in bands like gnr, stones, zepplin, aerosmith, van halen, etc.. Those amazing duos should stay together.. None of the bands mentioned above are the same without these guys or would be the same..

All those comments about slash being gone weren't just for fun, he was the one who complimented axl's singing as axl did his playing..

I believe depending on the band who is replacable.. Bass player is more important in say RHCp's and Primus then alot of other groups

Same thing with zepplin metallica, motley crue who in regards to drummers..

Gnr falls more into a lead singer/lead guitarist type group, both were household names and both were well known in their field..

In the old group it would be
axl
slash
izzy
duff
steve

Personally I never had much love for dizzy, keyboard piano has never been my thing..

New group I would have ranked bucket right after axl, he had something to offer and his weirdness along with teh great playing gave new gnr a bigger chance of being noticed..

As for the others who knows, I haven't seen what they offer as song writers

Pittman you could just forget, who needs two keyboard players?
