When all I've got is precious time

« on: September 09, 2004, 11:36:34 AM »

If 2004 is not the year, and 2005 is just do this.

In nov just put out a DVD/CD set, (two dvds) of the HOB and Hard rock shows.
One DVD could have the DVD and CD of HOB and the other the Hard Rock show.
Release them in Nov, to get the promotion rolling.
Then in Dec, put out the first single to CD.
Then in Feb/March release the album.

If feb was the confirmed month, and we got those DVDs and single this year, I think gnr fans would be estatic.

I agree. It would be fantastic to get one of the 'new' shows on dvd anyway cos I'm sure on the back of greatest hits/WTTV releases it would sell very well cos of people's curiosity to see what the 'new' guns n roses is like.

However, if CD isn't going to be released before the end of the year then I think releasing a single around nov/dec would be a great idea not only cos it would keep us lot happy for a while (and I'm feeling pretty bloody starved for some gnr right now) but it would avoid the media criticism of yet another year passing by without any new material. And if the so called tour rumours are true it would be insane to tour without, at the very least, a new single.

I think we've all had ideas like this mate!

I'd prefer the MSG show and whichever was the first with new-GNR (HOB?).  Also RIO - the record company must be mad/stupid not to release it.

The easiest most straightforward thing to do is release a Chinese Democracy world tour EP

It would contain studio cuts of all the songs played on tour

Axl can't lose - all the critics have already heard the songs (and damned him for them), so there could be no further negative press, it would remind people GNR still live yet would not be a single (and thus would not be a reflection on the album), plus it would make shitloads of money for Axl to repay Geffen/Interscope and keep them sweet (plus give him some money to keep paying the band - even he doesn't have limitless supplies of money)

I can't see how he could fail - after all these songs are already out there, he's just gonna be making some money from them

I dont think they should put out two new dvds. Although I have been saying for awhile they should put our a new GnR dvd.

1) to show the world the new band
2) Get people excited about the new project.
3) Help build up to CD.

While that's a good strategy, there's a problem with releasing the Vegas shows: there were two guys that aren't in the band anymore!

Oh you burned me. I didnt even think of that. That would be horrible to put out a dvd featuring the NEw GnR with 2 of the guys already gone. Maybe a later show with the the line-up would be nice. I still think BH could be on the DVD though maybe it would pressure him into coming back.

What Geffen really should do is to hire the best scientists available, give them a limitless budget, and make them invent a machine that goes back in time, send someone who prevents all the incidents that made the original band split up, and then we would all listen to the 10,11 or 12 GnR albums that would have been released in all this years.   Grin

Now, that is what they really should do !

They will never release a live show with material that will be on the new album.....why put out a Live version of "The Blues" before there is a studio version???

Axl would never agree to it.

Yeah, Bucket's not really a big deal, 'cause he'll be back. Plus, the new songs were in a much earlier stage than they were in the '02 tour. The MSG show would be the ideal show to release.

I wish I had your optimism about Bucket coming back.  I really wish he would.

I agree, the MSG show would be ideal show to release.  It was a fantastic show.

You can't think BH will be back after reading comments from Axl, Dizzy and Tommy on the issue. That one is banned from Guns N' Roses, Slash will be back before BH  Grin.

I hope Geffen or Axl do not read this, or even consider this, at all. January-April are horrible months for releasing new album releases. It would be a horrible decision from a business standpoint. They need to release a single including an album first. We have enough DVDs, this band needs to re-instate and secure itself into the music world before anything. Then months after the release of the album (2005) it would be a good idea to release a DVD of the 12-31-01 Hard Rock New Years eve Las Vegas show. Then support the album/singles with a 2005 tour. This CD needs to be released in 2004 or we could end up seeing target release dates being thrown around May of 2005, which would be ultimately pathetic.
