VELVET REVOLVER GIG LAST NIGHT
[Ed: See Brian News "BRIAN AT VELVET REVOLVER GIG"]:
It was a great show. Big vibes. Loud. Rude. Electric. Everyone got the feeling we would never see this band again in a small place ...
I love watching Slash anytime .... a truly wonderful player .... uniquely welded to his guitars .... pure passion ....
And the band is 'the one' for all those folks left dangling in the air after Guns'n'Roses split. It's NOT G'n'R of course .... but go get the album, and you'll be there when they come back and do Wembley Stadium !! Interesting to note that there was another of those ignorant reviewers in The Times completely missing the point .... again ... I'm so ashamed of our English journalists ..... Luckily the guys or VR could give less than a shoot for any of 'em !!!
GREAT !!!!
Bri
P.S. Slash played a snatch of Tie Yer Mother ! The guys know it just fine, but, as Slash explained to me afterwards, they were holding guitars with the low "E" string tuned down to D. So it would have been hard to carry on through the song .... IT was, for me, lovely to see Slash, Duff and Matt again... it's been a long time .... since I toured with them, as me and the B.M. Band all those years ago . They always treated me so kindly. I'm so happy to see them in great physical shape, totally present mentally, and in a great situation again. Rock in 2004 doesn't get much better than this.

Brian May seems like a really nice, down to earth guy, as well as a great guitarist. Ironically enough, I was just watching him and Axl perform "We Will Rock You" at the Freddie Mercury tribute earlier today. He said great things about Chinese Democracy album and now great things about VR. He's a cool guy.

Brian May is a legend of the business,he knows a good thing when he sees one...Wonder how the conversation went when Chinese democracy was brought up? if it was brought up that is.

I bet my life that it wasn't brought up. Slash, Duff and Matt have better things to do with their time, especially chatting to an old friend like Brian.
People people, stop assuming they are desperate to know about what Axl is doing. Clearly they are not. They always try and dodge the subject when interviewed, and they are touring a successful tour on a successful album.

I think there are people on this site who could take a tip from May. He's nuetral on the GnR subject. He still supports Axl and likes what he is doing, and he still supports Slash & Co and likes what they are doing. He didnt compare VR to GnR. He took VR for what it was and enjoyed the show. Everyone here on this site LOVES Guns N Roses back in the day, its crazy to me why some people here seem to only be able to like Axl or like Slash.

Speaking for me, it's not that I cannot like both. I was still supporting Axl in 99 when he was about to come back and thougfht that Rock in Rio was pretty cool. Downloaded some of the new tunes. Liked some, some sucked. Then Axl just proved that he is just as much of an asshole (IMO) than ever. He looks like a freak, I don't like his voice anymore he still lets fans down by not showing up to shows with no explanations besides it isn't his fault. I gave it one final shot and saw the New GnR, and it was a let down. The man turned into evreything he was against at one time. This is a dead subject but I could go on and on. This isn't Axl verse Slash for me. I just don't like Axl anymore. A reunion or him having the sack to come out solo (which I think would be very successful) is the only was to rekindle my interest.

I support both because I have no reason not to support both. In my opinion, Axl was MORE responsible for the breakup of the band but certainly not totally responsible. Slash, Duff, Matt, and Paul Huge also had a pretty large part of it as well. With that said, just because the band broke up does it mean I have to take sides. I listen to both bands because I like the music and the members of the band. So there would be no reason for me to put down either band or not listen to either band for any reason.

Sir, u r completely right. I get so tired of people blindly defending axl or slash when there so views so bluntly and obviously biased. To be honest none of us really know whos responsible for the breakup. I personally belive it was mostly axl because so many people who were in and close to the band say that but musically it doesnt affect what my tastes r and i like both bands. And another thing, no1 here knows any of the gnr guys personally (or at least well, u mightve met them or somethin) so people shoulddnt make judgements on people's character. I agree axl's unreliability at shows is very annoying and fucked up and slash and the other dudes might say things in interviews that i dont like or somethin they shouldnt but bottom line i enjoy them as musicians and they seem like cool guys but in reality i dont really know what their like as people so i cant call them assholes or make judgements on stuff like that.

Really nice of Mr May to say that..He is respected both by Axl and Slash, maybe he could be the one making the peace between them, and make sure of a reunion?

Not likely that will ever happen. VR is going well and there Axl and Slash can`t even speak to each other.
