Use Your Illusion I (1991)

« on: August 04, 2004, 08:20:54 PM »

Yo guys, this thread is probably one somewhere, I searched and couldn't find it though.

Ummm anyone have the cd? I'm sure some of you have it. I just got it, and I like it a lot. I like it a whole lot.

Does anyone know if it even sold well? I see where it came out in the middle of 1996. Guns N' Roses were still together then.

I really like the album a lot, I'm surprised no one referred this to me yet. There really isn't any bad songs. There are a couple that I don't care for but I think this album is right there with The Spaghetti Inncident, Lies. I mean it is a good album all the way around.

I was wondering, is Duff lead guitar in this album and Jones rhythum, or what? It just says guitar, so I can't tell who is who. I love Taylor's bass playing too... perfect for the songs on there. Jones vocals are different to me, but good. I like him alright. The record is very underrated I think, I've heard so little about them.

Anyone knwo something I don't about them? Thanks.

Nope, didn't sell well at all.

Jonesy was lead guitar, they signed with Madonna's Maverick records for 1 million up front, toured the world to really good reviews, was house band at The Viper Room as late as 1999...

I also love this underated album....the ballady type  songs (story of my life,Union, etc.) are better than the slower songs off CB IMO.  Allaround i would rank it equel to CB....with some promotion i think they could'v been alot more than what they were....i allways hoped they would get together again for another album.......i have a tape somewhere, the band were on the radio show Rock Line the day before it the album was released.....Duff and Matt were talking about starting production on the new GNR disk shortly!  hihi

I really don't like this album. IMO it's the worst GN'R solo record with Gilby's Hangover.

errr that was loaded hun Tongue

hihi sorry im a bitch, i know hihi

no they didn't sell well actually... they had plans for a big promotion and everything but it all ended up in shit really, they wanted to do too much on their own... but then again that's what they were about, they came together for that short time to play, record compagnies jumped on them because of the whole "supergroup" thingy but they just wanted to play and tour and have fun and get away from it all so... the only reason they signed with maverick in the first place is because that was the one label that said "you guys wanna tour? ok have fun, you just record some songs for us and we'll do the rest, no strings attached"... that and the fact that the compagny was actually run by a woman said matt... but that was more of a joke... a bad bad dirty joke Grin
yeah they did have plans at a certain time but cause they were out playing they didn't wanna come back home and get this and that done, so more than a couple of newsletters and radio spots they didn't really do much... then it fell apart... not much more to say really Lips Sealed

Underrated record, I like it better than Contraband. Some of the songs, namely Story of my Life, Union and Better Way have a lot of soul in them.
