Scott Weiland has until the end of the month before he'll have to stand trial for driving under the influence of drugs in Los Angeles. His court date, which has already been pushed back several times, was postponed once again on Tuesday, to June 30. ...

Gypsy comment:  With all these postponements, if Scott was an ex-gunner, I would have to start posting these dates in the Dead Horse section.  hihi

Well the band is off for a month, so if this goes to trial this is a good time, but most likely it will be thrown out.

A trial could stop a Europe tour and stop VR in their tracks. Maybe Rod Jackson could fill in if needed?

I like scott and all but I hope he doesnt get off with a slap on the wrist.

My friend just got pulled over and blew a .09 less then a month after it dropped from .10 to .08.

He got a year of probation, 3 months of no driving, $1500 in fines, 24 hours of community service, Two different classes in which they sit there and yell at your face, MADD class, and not to mention he crashed his car in a ditch.

I dont think celebs should just get off. (ie Courtney Love)

No contest plea from Velvet Revolver frontman

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Velvet Revolver lead singer Scott Weiland pleaded no contest Friday to a misdemeanor count of driving under the influence.

His sentencing was set for July 8.

The 36-year-old singer was ordered in January to return to a live-in drug detoxification center after he left earlier than he was authorized to.

Weiland has had several drug-related arrests, and was jailed in 1999 for violating probation on a previous drug arrest and failing to complete a rehabilitation program.

Weiland was formerly the lead singer for Stone Temple Pilots, a Grammy-winning band that had five Billboard Top 10 albums from 1992 to 2001.

He now fronts Velvet Revolver, with members of the heavy metal supergroup Guns N' Roses.

Velvet Revolver's first album debuted at No. 1 last month on the Billboard sales charts.

I'm not a lawyer but I'm guessing Scott's lawyers make a really smart move when they got his heroin-in-the-car-with-the-headlights-off-with-the-girl arrest switched over to a rehab-case/probation offense and is using this DUI/no-contest plea as his third-strike offense because the DUI would be less jail time.

Like I said... just a guess on my part.

they're same n' same - the DUI case is the "crashed into a parked car and fled" case.

I get confused about which case is which, too.  confused

Nearly eight months after his arrest for driving under the influence of drugs, Scott Weiland was sentenced Thursday in a Los Angeles court to three years' probation, during which he'll be treated for his drug problem.

Weiland had pleaded no contest to the misdemeanor charge earlier this week, which stemmed from his arrest on his 36th birthday, October 27th (see "Scott Weiland Involved In Car Crash; Arrested For DUI"). The Velvet Revolver singer's BMW struck a parked van, and as part of his sentencing, he was ordered to pay restitution to the owner of the parked vehicle, in addition to a $390 fine.

Under the terms of Weiland's latest probation, he'll be required to enroll in a six-month drug-treatment program and attend three Narcotics Anonymous meetings per week for the next three years. Weiland will also be required to submit to regular drug testing, as well as periodic drug testing at the discretion of the police (with or without probable cause), according to the city attorney's office. During this probation, Weiland is prohibited from being in the possession of, or under the influence of, both alcohol and drugs.

A week before this most recent arrest, Weiland had been congratulated for staying clean by a judge overseeing his probation from two felony charges of possession of heroin and cocaine. Upon hearing of the DUI arrest, that judge determined the latest charge was a violation of Weiland's probation and revoked the singer's freedom, ordering him into detox (see "Scott Weiland To Enter Rehab Immediately, By Order Of Judge"). The lockdown aspect of his rehab was later amended, and he will have completed the terms of his sober-living program under that probation by the end of this month, at which point he was scheduled to have six more months of after-care counseling and testing.

There's no word yet if Weiland's new probation will affect his current one, but the city attorney's office anticipates that they'll run concurrently. That matter will likely be decided at the singer's next probation status report hearing, scheduled for July 30.

VELVET REVOLVER singer Scott Weiland (ex-STONE TEMPLE PILOTS) has been sentenced to a six-month stint in a drug program after pleading no contest to driving under the influence in Los Angeles, according to Reuters. In addition, Weiland was placed on probation and ordered to repay the owner of a parked vehicle he rammed shortly before his October arrest on the misdemeanor DUI charge.

Under the terms of Weiland's latest probation, he'll be required to enroll in a six-month drug-treatment program and attend three Narcotics Anonymous meetings per week for the next three years, according to MTV.com. Weiland will also be required to submit to regular drug testing, as well as periodic drug testing at the discretion of the police (with or without probable cause), according to the city attorney's office. During this probation, Weiland is prohibited from being in the possession of, or under the influence of, both alcohol and drugs.

Weiland, 36, previously was placed in a live-in detoxification program after an earlier arrest in May 2003 for heroin possession. In 1999, he served jail time for repeatedly violating his probation on drug charges and for failing to complete drug rehabilitation stints.

He has to do this while playing festivals in Europe?  That's a lot more than a slap on the wrist.  I guess they do want to make an example out of him.

SCOTT WEILAND Appears In L.A. Court, Explains His Addiction

VELVET REVOLVER frontman Scott Weiland was photographed leaving Los Angeles Municipal Court, where he pleaded no contest to driving under the influence in Los Angeles, on Thursday (June 8 ). Check out pictures from Globe Photos.  http://globeph.glbx.image-data.com/dynevent-action-nl.do?eventid=69440&hmessage=SCOTT%20WEILAND%20IS%20LEAVING%20LOS%20ANGELES%20%20MUNICIPAL%20COURT,WHERE%20HE%20APPEARED%20IN%20FRONT%20OF%20THE%20JUDGE%20FOR%202003%20VIOLATION%20.%20LOS%20ANGELES%20MUNICIPAL%20COURT%20METROPOLITAN%20BRANCH,%20LOS%20ANGELES,%20CA.%2007/08/2004

As previously reported, Weiland was sentenced to a six-month stint in a drug program and was placed on probation and ordered to repay the owner of a parked vehicle he rammed shortly before his October arrest on the misdemeanor DUI charge.

Weiland, 36, previously was placed in a live-in detoxification program after an earlier arrest in May 2003 for heroin possession. In 1999, he served jail time for repeatedly violating his probation on drug charges and for failing to complete drug rehabilitation stints.

In other news, Weiland was recently asked by Stuff magazine what made plunging a needle into his arm seem like a good idea. "I was on medication for manic-depressive disorder," Weiland explained. "It's been an issue for the past 20 years. Part of the problem was, I got off my medication and decided to medicate myself with heroin ? which worked for a while, but in the end, it stopped. I fell off the wagon during a time when my wife and I were separated and STONE TEMPLE PILOTS were broken up. I was in a suicidal depression ? a narcissistic, obsessive depression. And the only thing I could think about was my own self-centered, dark world. My thoughts today are not on myself."
