This story (bullshit?) with VH1 reminds me the whole Mike Piazza story with I.R.S: They just want to get attention. no more. They just want people to talk about them.

Maybe Mike Piazza was VH1's source.

Why is it so hard for some people to believe that "I.R.S." was played on Eddie Trunk's show? Just because YOU didn't hear it doesn't mean that no-one did.

BOTTOM LINE: If we knew it was coming, there'd be recordings of it, but, it was a totally random occurance, so we're out of luck, plain and simple.

I'd like to think Vh! doesn't feel the need to drop wild speculative statements and such like Eddie Trunk and Mike Piazza did. I'd like to think so, but you never know... Tongue

THE SONG WAS PLAYED.

Why is this so hard for you to believe? Stop saying that it was a bullshit rumor started by Trunk and Piazza to get attention. You're truly insane if you believe that.

so Vh1 is makin up GNR rumors for publicity?

did u think before saying that?

do u know how ridiculous that sounds?

u make it sound like VH1 is some second rate tv station that is hangin by a thread and has to make up sensational rumors to survive

VH1 has nothing to gain by makin that up, people that like GNR will watch because its GNR, its not like stickin a release date at the end will draw huge ratings

VH1 im sure got that release date from Geffen, now is that date in stone? does it mean we will get it? maybe not

but im sure thats the plans as of july 2004

it may have been the plans for the last 4 years as far as we know

No one heard the song, no one on any of the vast gnr boards.
You would think if it did leak that we would have gotten a discription of the song by someone, even a non gnr fan. But no nothing.

So the song was NEVER played, it was BS.

Dave...

Again, I really shouldn't have to keep repeating this, but just because you never heard the song DOES NOT mean that it wasn't played! THIS IS NOT A HARD CONCEPT TO UNDERSTAND!

The song NEVER leaked, so that part of your post is null and void.

Eddie Trunk's show isn't exactly that popular, and the song was premiered on a holiday weekend. How many people do you think actually had the radio on? Besides, not every area gets Trunk's show (mine doesn't), so it would be a very small listening audience in the first place.

And to dispell your point of a non-GNR fan hearing the song and giving a description: I doubt that to a non-fan or even a casual fan, a new track probably would be as Earth shattering as it would be to us, they probably would have went "Ok, a new GN'R song, that's cool", but I doubt they would have made as much of a commotion over it as we do.

Again - the song was played, just because you didn't hear it doesn't mean that it wasn't.

Shortly after the song was played, Trunk invited comments from the audience in regards to their opinion of the song.. at the time, there were posts in regard to the sound of said song on Trunk's message board.

What happened was 'someone' (I'm not necessarily convinced it was Interscope) told Trunk NOT to play it again - and also to basically remove any even mention of it from the replay of his show that week.  There are people who work in radio who have heard off-the-air broadcasts of Trunk's show that evening.  I can assure you the song was played.. the problem is, its not going to leak because no one wants to lose their job.  The song will eventually get out there, I think - but it'll have to be by some disgruntled DJ who gets fired and yet still has access to the carts with the show (or at least that snippet of it)

I know at a station a friend works at, there was a memo that went out basically saying "If you ask for a copy of the Trunk show from that night, you'll lose your job.. so don't bother" - worded a bit nicer, of course.. but still, the message is the same.

I believe IRS was indeed played, but the average person doesn't sit in front of their tape recorder when they're not expecting anything special.  I believe there was a song that Trunk and Piazza played that they thought was IRS by Gn'r but may have been a fake song; who knows.  And you know what?  Who cares.  Just because there was a possibility that one song may have been played almost a year ago is nothing.  We already know Axl has a ton of material.  We know there are many songs.  This song, since nobody has it, means nothing.  I just pray that the CD will eventually come out and then we'll all be happy.

I agree with Dave to a degree. Not asking for a word by word review, but someone outthere would remember a chorus line or too. I can remember a chorus after hearing it. The show has to of had some fans. SOME Listen who might of hated the song or hates GNR would of atleast gone online and bashed that song.

And how would Mike of gotten it?

If Axl gave it to him why would the record company demand it back?

Besides the fact Axl's vocals are one of a kind. You wouldnt confuse him for someone else.

Maybe the DJ's just made it up and played some local , unheard band so people wouldnt of recorded it and it just gives TONS of FREE PUBILICTY for them.

IF NO FAN CAN CONFIRM THEY HEARD IT AND GIVE ATLEAST A CHORUS LINE I wouldnt believe it.
