Let's see what you all think about this...

Does his presence live up to the expectations the other guys created about his role in this band?

Before the release of Contraband, I read many comments made by Duff and Slash regarding Dave's involvement with the band/record. If I remember correctly, Duff and Slash explained Dave's role as an approach to a more modern sound. I even remember a thread about it not too long ago in which we were debating what " modern" could possibly have meant.

To me, I personally expected something different. Contraband is a straight rock and roll album ( nothing wrong with that) but I though the guys would have experienced with Protools, loops and shit like that. I never expected a radical change a la Radiohead with Kid A but I did expected a bit more of Dave's hypothetical role.

Anyone agree?

I think Dave's done an excellent job of making sure Slash doesn't sound completely shit.

I was actually surprised off Dave's work on Contraband. I think he did an excellent job. I thought he would be the weak link out of the band but i think he did a great job ok

I agree with you, Chinasky. Dave could do a better job with his "textures"... Some people said he was like Dave Navarro, but he's not even closer.

I think Dvae is an awsome player. He did what he said he would do, play diferent from Slash. He is (without cunting Izzy) the perfect guitar balance for Slash.
